Job Description

This role will be part of a high-performing engineering team focused on materials processing, supply chain development, and supplier qualification for next-generation materials and components. The primary responsibility of the position is to develop material property correlations and advanced material performance models that capture complex material behaviors, using data derived from published literature and internal testing programs. Location: Bellevue, WA Length of Assignment: 12 months with potential to extend Benefits: Three insurance levels, 401K + match, sick leave, and the opportunity to support advanced energy technology development.

Responsibilities Compile datasets from literature for basic physical and mechanical properties, complex mechanical phenomena (e.g. creep, fatigue, creep-fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture), irradiation performance, corrosion, and tribology Perform Qualification of Existing Data per ASME NQA-1-2015 Develop material property correlations and advanced material performance models as input to computer codes and methods to demonstrate the performance of reactor systems, structures, and components.

Plan, execute, and oversee test programs designed to address data gaps Perform quantitative and statistical analysis on test data and generate technical reports to document new knowledge related to reactor design and qualification Update and maintain a Python-based material database as well as associated design handbooks Key Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or a Master's degree. A degree in Materials Science/Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is desired. A solid understanding of metallurgy including fabrication and thermomechanical processing of ferrous (e.g., ferritic-martensitic steels) and nonferrous (e.g., nickel-base) alloys is required A general understanding of the design of nuclear reactor and subsequent impacts on materials would be considered a plus Ability to work with minimum direction to solve challenging problems Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork Estimated Compensation Range: $52 - $85 per hour.
