About the Role
The Manufacturing Accountant completes and analyzes day-to-day financial and accounting requirements across manufacturing activities. The role focuses on manufacturing accounting, inventory accuracy, revenue recognition and WIP control, periodic financial analysis and internal controls, providing timely, accurate insights that drive operational efficiency and support management decision making.
Responsibilities
- Support all daily, weekly, monthly, annual manufacturing accounting activities
- Support month-end close and monthly forecasting activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations related to COGS, inventory, and manufacturing overhead.
- Support the preparation of internal reports highlighting key operational KPIs.
- Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations, ensuring balances are accurate, supported, and compliant with internal controls.
- Partner with Planning, Logistics, and Production to resolve inventory discrepancies and improve inventory accuracy and traceability.
- Monitor material movements (issues, returns, backflush transactions) to ensure accurate system reporting and alignment with production activity.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over inventory, capitalization, and manufacturing transactions, support audit readiness.
- Collaborate with Planning, Procurement, Production, Quality, and IT/PI teams to improve data integrity (BOMs, routings, and system logic) and reduce rework or adjustments.
- Participate in special projects to support operational improvements and financial analysis.
- Participate in weekly manufacturing cash forecasting activities as assigned.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to interpret operational data and translate it into actionable insights
- Effective communication skills; able to work cross-functionally with production and non-finance individuals
- Solid understanding of inventory processes, revenue recognition, WIP, and cost flow in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to identify process gaps and recommend practical improvements
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, basic data analysis)
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as JDE, Oracle, or SAP
- Proficiency with Reporting tools such as Hyperion, HFM, OneStream etc.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
Preferred Skills
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting or plant/operations accounting, including revenue recognition and WIP management.
- Ability to operate within a defined control environment and to support external/internal audits.
- Proficient in MS Excel and other Microsoft products
- Experience with variance analysis and KPI reporting in an operations environment
