Role Summary

Clio, a global leader in legal AI technology, is seeking a Manager, Security Engineering to lead both technical solutions and people development within our Security Team. The role is available to candidates across Canada and the US. For candidates located in our Canadian hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto), in‑office attendance is required minimum twice per week on an Anchor Day; for other locations a hybrid work environment with occasional in‑office visits is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Ship code changes, monitor our Kubernetes clusters, tweak autoscaling, and contribute to our CNAPP deployment.
  • Drive remediation of cloud and infrastructure vulnerabilities against SLAs and produce audit evidence that keeps authorizations current.
  • Collaborate with development and production engineering groups to understand business challenges, identify impactful opportunities, and craft a roadmap for the team.
  • Lead the design and implementation of technical solutions that improve Clio’s logging and security posture.
  • Provide constructive feedback on code reviews, architecture documents, and other artifacts to guide team members toward high‑quality technical decisions.
  • Actively participate as a contributor to the project through code reviews or shipping code.
  • Conduct 1:1 meetings with direct reports to support their career growth and development goals.
  • Participate in hiring to grow the engineering team.

Qualifications

  • Experience securing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP/GSuite, GitHub, IdP), including hands‑on work with AWS or GCP.
  • Ownership of a security‑compliance program (FedRAMP / StateRAMP / GovRAMP / SOC 2) – audit evidence, continuous monitoring, etc.
  • Proficient with Terraform, GitOps (Flux/Argo), Kustomize, and KEDA‑based autoscaling.
  • Demonstrated success in people leadership within software development for large‑scale SaaS products, with a strong background in cloud computing and cloud security.
  • Strong problem‑solving ability across complex technical domains.
  • Track record of hiring top engineers in a fast‑paced environment and coaching, developing, and retaining talent.
  • Balanced technical and people focus, energized by both coding and team growth.
  • Ability to convey strong opinions while remaining open to new ideas and fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Adaptability to evolving priorities and the ability to design flexible roadmaps.

Desired Skills & Bonus Points

  • Philosophy on building high‑performing software teams.
  • Senior AWS security experience on EC2 and managed services.
  • Deep understanding of threat vectors, IOCs, malicious behaviour identification, and threat analysis.
  • Experience operating a large‑scale logging/SIEM platform (ELK, OpenSearch, Splunk) across multiple regions.
  • Programming proficiency in Ruby on Rails or Python.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary ranges for this role are $176,000 to $264,000 CAD (plus regional adjustments). Benefits include:
