Purpose of Role
The purpose of your role is to support the Maintenance Manager and provide technical support
to our production facility. This includes various maintenance tasks such as machine
maintenance and repair, fault finding and troubleshooting, continuous production process
improvement, and implementing preventative maintenance programmes.
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of planned and unplanned
maintenance of plant and utilities in compliance with the Company’s quality standards.
You will be proficient in all aspects of industrial maintenance, including mechanics,
pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems, automation, and stainless steel equipment
repairs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out a range of technical duties covering mechanical, electrical, and general building fabric maintenance.
- Proactively identify and remedy equipment maintenance issues to maximise equipment uptime.
- Service electrical, mechanical, and non-technical equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance checklists are updated regularly.
- Carry out preventative maintenance in line with the Maintenance Department planned schedule.
- Assist and manage subcontractors as required.
- Identify spare parts requirements and conduct regular stocktaking.
- Mentor the production team by providing technical advice and support to achieve maximum machine performance.
- Work closely with the Quality Team in preparation for and during inspections.
- Collaborate across all departments to ensure optimal efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and legislative requirements, maintaining best practice standards and encouraging continuous improvement.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- 2-3 years’ experience in an industrial maintenance environment, preferably within the food industry.
- Diploma or trade qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Strong electrical background (essential).
- Proven track record in preventative and reactive maintenance within a similar role.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of safety precautions and safe working practices.
- Methodical, analytical, and enthusiastic approach to work with strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of legislation relevant to food manufacturing, quality compliance, and Health & Safety.
- Ability to respond to crisis situations efficiently and professionally, using sound judgement.
