Due to our recent expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Warehouse Supervisor, ideally with experience in Cold Chain 3PL Logistics to join our dedicated team on our PM Shift. This role will be based at one of our Truganina sites (with the flexibility to move between the sites) and is responsible for providing oversight, leadership and guidance to the cold storage team members and MHE operators across the warehouse operation including the dock, chiller and freezer environments.
The position is crucial for the smooth operation of the cold storage facility, ensuring product integrity, and supervising a team of warehouse workers effectively. The ideal candidate will have leadership and people management skills, be capable of multi-tasking and be detail-oriented, efficient, with a strong focus on following processes and procedures and capable of supervising both operational logistics and staff in a high-stakes, fast paced environment.
Excellent organisational abilities, as well as strong problem-solving, customer service and stakeholder management skills are a must.

Duties include:
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee and ensure the warehouse operation is running effectively and efficiently including the dock, chiller and freezer areas.
- Planning, organizing and monitoring of the staff of the warehouse operations
- Supervise the loading and unloading of trucks to ensure the efficient, accurate and timely transfer of perishable goods.
- Supervise the moving, locating, stacking, and counting of products in multiple temperature-controlled environments.
- Ensure that goods are handled in compliance with safety, quality and hygiene standards, particularly regarding temperature-sensitive items.
- Monitor the use of equipment, such as reach and counterbalance forklifts, pallet tuggers, and dock levellers, to ensure safe and smooth operations.
- Ensure all correct operational processes and procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Ensure warehouse is presentable at all times.
Staff Supervision and Training
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of warehouse workers on the dock, in the chiller and in the freezer and other warehouse personnel.
- Provide training and guidance on proper handling, safety protocols, food handling requirements, workplace procedures and equipment usage.
- Ensure staff are motivated and working productively and efficiently at all times, are following the proper operational processes and procedures and that performance concerns are addressed and escalated where appropriate.
- Oversee adherence to safety guidelines and procedures, such as personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and safe lifting practices across the shift.
- Monitor and manage staff break times.
Temperature Control Monitoring
- Ensure that temperature settings are accurate and maintained according to the specific requirements for various goods.
- Implement corrective actions if temperatures fall out of range.
Inventory and Shipment Tracking
- Maintain accurate records of inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring inventory levels are updated in real time.
- Coordinate with customer co-ordinators to monitor stock levels and address discrepancies.
- Ensure that shipping documents are completed accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Safety & Compliance
- Build a strong safety and team culture, ensuring OHS obligations are met and hazards and incidents are promptly reported.
- Enforce all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of staff and goods.
- Conduct toolboxes and regular safety meetings and ensure compliance with WHS
- Oversee cold storage equipment & MHE to ensure it meets safety standards.
Quality Assurance
- Inspect the condition of goods before they are loaded or unloaded, ensuring that damaged or spoiled items are identified and properly handled.
- Inspect the condition of freight stored in the freezer environment
- Monitor the quality of the cold storage environment, ensuring it is clean, organized, and free from contaminants.
Problem Resolution
- Address and resolve any issues or disruptions in the shipping and receiving process promptly.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., operations, logistics, and customer service) to ensure smooth operations and resolve discrepancies in shipping, inventory, or temperature control.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain and submit daily or weekly reports on dock operations, staff performance, inventory levels, and temperature control.
- Ensure all damages are reported in a timely manner.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse operations, preferably within a cold storage, 3PL, or FMCG setting with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role, though more supervisory experience would be very well regarded.
- An understanding of cold storage environments, food safety standards, safe MHE operation, temperature control systems, and warehouse safety protocols.
- Experience managing perishable food commodities (meat, dairy, seafood, produce) an advantage
- Knowledge of HACCP, WHS, and relevant industry standards.
- Strong leadership and staff supervision skills, including the ability to motivate, train and guide staff.
- Qualifications in logistics, supply chain, &/or equivalent experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, people and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient in WMS systems ( Thomax (an advantage) and the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
- Previous exposure to an automated warehousing environment would be beneficial
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including extensive walking, standing, some lifting, and moving heavy objects in a cold storage environment with temperatures ranging from -23°C to +10°C)
- A valid forklift licence with high reach and counterbalance experience (advantageous).
Note: Flexibility to work extended hours, weekend shifts, or on-call availability may be required depending on business needs.
