Learning and Development Manager

Job Description
Role: Learning & Development Manager Place of Work: Glasgow, City Centre Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm We’re growing our team! A clear signal that Jones Whyte takes its people experience seriously. Last year the firm was recognised as the Scottish Top Employer of the Year at The Herald and s1jobs Top Employer Awards 2025.
This award reflects our commitment to creating a workplace where people thrive – one that values career development, wellbeing, inclusivity, innovation, and community impact reflecting the strong foundations already in place. We're looking for a Learning & Development Manager to join our People team and take ownership of how capability is built, measured and sustained across our firm. This is a role for someone who is commercially minded, tech-curious and genuinely excited by the difference great learning design can make.
What You'll Be Doing You'll lead Jones Whyte's capability agenda across four core areas: Systems & role-based learning : designing practical learning that drives real adoption of our processes and systems, and building clear development pathways for key roles across the firm. CPD compliance: taking full ownership of regulatory training compliance for all fee-earners and relevant colleagues. 100% compliance is the standard; you'll build the systems and habits to get there and stay there. Performance & development insight : using AI-enabled tools and learning analytics to move beyond attendance tracking and generate genuine insight on capability trends, training effectiveness and development gaps.
Leadership & manager development: contributing to the design and delivery of programmes that help our managers lead with confidence. You'll work closely with our Director of People, Partners and managers across the firm operating as a trusted adviser and practical problem-solver. This isn't a role where you maintain a training calendar and report on completions.
You'll be shaping how capability is defined, built and measured across the firm with real influence, real stakeholders and real outcomes to point to. You'll use AI tools and learning analytics as standard. You'll have a direct input to strategic decisions and you'll see your work reflected in how people actually perform: not just what they attended.
What We're Looking For You'll need: Experience of designing and delivering learning in a professional or regulated environment A track record of managing CPD or regulatory compliance The confidence to influence senior stakeholders, including Partners, without formal authority A data-driven mindset: you’re comfortable using analytics to evaluate impact and make a case for investment Genuine curiosity about AI and learning technology, and a willingness to operate in an AI-first environment It would also be great if you have: Experience working in a law firm or professional services setting Exposure to performance management frameworks or PDP processes Company Benefits & Perks As a young, dynamic and forward-thinking firm, we’re dedicated to fostering an environment where every team member feels supported, empowered, and part of something meaningful. Our non-legal teams receive the same attention and development opportunities as our legal teams, and we pride ourselves on our inclusive and supportive culture. We offer: £45,000–£55,000 depending on experience Company pension and bonus scheme Excellent maternity and paternity benefits 26 days’ holiday plus 8 bank holidays, with loyalty scheme and buy/sell option Hybrid working following a period of office-based training Wellbeing support, social events, and generous staff perks Applications close on Friday 24th April
