Overview

As Lead, Events you will shape and deliver a large, global events portfolio across International Higher Education, guiding strategy, governance and performance. You’ll lead a dispersed team and coordinate with marketing, sales and partners to maximise commercial, brand, and thought leadership outcomes. The role focuses on optimizing investments across conferences, sponsorships, executive engagements and partner activations.

You’ll drive measurable impact through disciplined planning, enterprise alignment and data-driven decision making. This is a high-visibility opportunity to elevate Pearson’s position as a trusted leader in education.

Responsibilities
  • Define and manage a large global events portfolio and annual roadmap
  • Translate business priorities into event objectives, audience strategies and success metrics
  • Apply investment frameworks to determine lead/sponsor/exhibit/partner opportunities
  • Lead and develop a geographically dispersed events team
  • Oversee end-to-end event delivery, governance and risk management
  • Establish playbooks, templates and standards to improve consistency and scalability
  • Provide executive portfolio reporting, investment cases and recommendations
  • Drive continuous improvement in efficiency, attendee experience and ROI
Key requirements
  • Senior leadership experience managing complex corporate/global events portfolios across multiple regions
  • Experience leading and developing event teams in a matrixed organization
  • Track record of translating strategy into prioritised, measurable event programmes
  • Experience with conferences, exhibitions, sponsorships, executive programmes and customer/partner events
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability at senior levels
  • Budget, resource, supplier and commercial investment management experience
  • Deep understanding of live, virtual and hybrid event delivery
  • Strong portfolio governance, operations, risk management and reporting skills
  • Excellent executive communication and decision-making under pressure
  • Experience with enterprise event management, project management, CRM and reporting platforms
