What you'll do

• Conduct comprehensive analyses of land data to support project planning and execution, ensuring that all relevant information is accurately documented and accessible.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineers to assess land requirements for new projects, identifying potential challenges and opportunities.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing land-related findings, providing insights to stakeholders and aiding in decision-making processes.
• Monitor and interpret land use regulations and policies, ensuring that all projects comply with local, provincial, and federal laws.
• Assist in negotiating land agreements and contracts with landowners, ensuring that all terms are favorable and align with company objectives.
• Maintain and update land databases, ensuring that all records are current and accurately reflect the status of land holdings and agreements.
• Support the acquisition of land rights by conducting due diligence and coordinating with legal teams to facilitate smooth transactions.
• Engage with external stakeholders, including government agencies and community organizations, to foster positive relationships and address any concerns related to land use.
• Analyze market trends and land values to provide strategic recommendations for land acquisition and development opportunities.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to develop and implement land management strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior analysts and interns, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies related to land analysis and management, integrating new tools and methods into daily operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Land Management, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in land analysis or a similar role within the energy or natural resources sector.
• Strong understanding of land use regulations and policies, particularly in Alberta.
• Proficiency in GIS software and land management databases, with the ability to analyze spatial data effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with contract negotiation processes and land acquisition procedures.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Nice to have

• Certification as a Land Agent or similar designation would be an asset.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and community relations, particularly in the energy sector.
• Knowledge of environmental assessment processes and sustainability practices related to land use.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, for data analysis and reporting.
• Experience with GIS tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS for spatial analysis and mapping.
• Familiarity with project management software and collaboration tools to enhance team productivity.
• Strong organizational skills to manage data and documentation efficiently.
