Lab Service Engineer (Tualatin)
Applicantz
Job Description
12 months long contract, onsite work from Tualatin, OR (97062) office. Top Skills: You will interact with a wide range of lab users, requiring discretion, emotional intelligence, and a professional demeanor. Customer-facing job experience is a plus.
Lab users should feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help, while boundaries are maintained clearly and respectfully. You will frequently solve practical problems with incomplete information. Hands-on experience is valued, including self-taught or informal work outside formal roles.
Experience with electronics (e.g., embedded systems, data acquisition, control or engine computers) and mechanical skills (e.g., CAD/CAM, 3D printing, automotive, or machining) transfer well to this role. Responsibilities: The Hardware Engineering Lab (HEL) is a fast-paced, informal workspace for prototyping, assembly, testing, and rework. This role works in close coordination with the lab manager to keep the lab prepared, responsive, and evolving.
Few roles involve such close, day-to-day collaboration with a single partner while also serving a broad community of engineers, physicists, and technicians. This role supports the lab manager and the day-to-day operations of the lab and its users. The volume and variety of work flowing through the lab make disciplined note keeping and reliable follow-through essential.
The lab also functions as a shared library for parts, tools, and equipment. Documenting requests, tracking commitments, and consistently closing loops are core responsibilities. You will observe how work flows through the lab, identify points of congestion or friction, and help implement practical changes that keep routine work moving.
You will own several small, discrete improvement efforts. Our Client is a Fortune 350 company that engages in the design, manufacturing, marketing, and service of semiconductor processing equipment.
