The Kakadu Program isbased inJabiru and isa residential, experiential learning programdelivered across Kakadu,Katherineand Darwin. Itprovides young people with structurededucational,cultural,and personal developmentexperiences, supported by teaching staff, coaches, outdooreducationpersonnel,andtrainees.
Jabiru is a smalltownshiplocatedin the heartof Kakadu NationalPark , NorthernTerritory. Originallyestablishedin the early 1980s tosupport the Ranger Uranium Mine, Jabiru has evolved into the mainservice hub for the region.
Jabiru is also a gateway for visitorsexploring Kakadu’s cultural and natural attractions, combining aclose ‑ knit community lifestylewith unique access to one of Australia’s most significant naturalenvironments.
TheRole
In 2021 theschoolcommenceda partnered initiative with TraditionalOwners to provided middle school students with extended,residentialprogramacross the Northern Territory,broadening students’ experiences beyond the conventional routinesof family and school life. So too their connection tocountry.
Based in the township of Jabiru,the Kakadu ProgramTeachers and Specialists are residential educators who support the School’sKakadu Program in the Northern Territory through the developmentand delivery of innovative, place-based learning experiences. Thisincludes outdoor education and activities such as culturalimmersion experiences, guided walks, overnight campouts, communityactivities, and partnership with the local school, all designed tofoster connection, resilience, intercultural understanding, andexperiential learning.
KakaduProgramTeachers/Specialistsare required towork to the needs ofthe students asrequiredin a dynamic workingenvironment.Accommodation and meals onsite are provided.Opportunities for travel and lifestyle are available, around therequirements of the role.

Keyresponsibilities:
- Observeandmonitorstudent learning,wellbeinganddevelopmentthroughout theprogramwhilemaintainingproactive and reactivecommunication with parents
- Provide opportunities forstudent leadership and responsibility within the program,encouraging a spirit of excellence, responsibility, andcooperation within the group.
- LiaiseandmaintaincommunicationwiththeKakaduProgramLeadershipTeam, on thewell-being of students,staff, and other changes to dailysite situations
- Promote positive andprofessional relationships between Caulfield Grammar School andlocal communitiespromotingculturalsensitivitywhen engaging with communitygroups
- Be committed to providing a safephysical and emotional environment where students are respectedand treated with dignity inan appropriateprofessionaland caring manner
- Model and live the CaulfieldGrammar School values andbehaviours
