Position Overview
AgriCapture is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior GIS Analyst to join our growing team. In this role you will work closely with our GIS and project teams to assist with data creation, spatial rendering, and analysis aligned with company goals. You will gain exposure to multiple facets of GIS, from raw data collection and cleaning to visualization and remote sensing analysis, all while learning how geospatial tools support sustainable agriculture and carbon reduction efforts.
This role fits a recent graduate or early career analyst who wants production GIS experience on projects with real environmental and financial consequences. Day to day you will identify, collect, and clean spatial and resource input and output data, and support the creation and maintenance of project field boundary data. You will also build clear and visually appealing maps and geospatial graphics for internal and external use.
Objectives of the Role
- Build and maintain accurate field boundary and project geometry for enrolled acreage
- Run recurring spatial analyses supporting site eligibility, acreage accounting, and practice verification
- Support partner field data applications, troubleshooting collection issues and capturing quality control findings to lead to feature and application improvements
- Help streamline data collection across South and Southeast Asia so field records arrive consistent, complete, and ready for analysis
Responsibilities
- Create, clean, and quality check spatial data from grower submissions, partner files, and public sources, documenting what changed and why
- Assemble map packages, tabular summaries, and visualizations for internal teams, growers, and verifiers
- Support partner and field teams using AgriCapture data collection applications, diagnosing submission errors and documenting how each was resolved
- Track recurring data quality patterns across submissions and turn them into specific enhancement requests for field applications and forms
- Adapt collection templates and quality control checks to local cropping systems and project requirements across South and Southeast Asia
- Collaborate cross-functionally with program, product, and science teams to turn spatial questions into repeatable workflows
- Provide support with technical writing, documentation, and editing as required
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Geographic Information Systems or Science, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field, or a related Bachelor of Science paired with a GIS certificate
- Fluent in English (required)
- Up to two years of applied GIS experience, including internships, co-ops, research, or academic projects
- Working proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, including editing, geoprocessing, coordinate systems, and map layouts
- Comfort working with tabular data and joins, with care around units, projections, and area calculations
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling and presenting geographic data and maps
- Organized multitasker able to manage concurrent deadlines and flag conflicting priorities early
- Clear written communication and a willingness to learn new tools and workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ESRI applications such as Survey123, Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder, or Dashboards
- Experience or coursework related to open-source GIS tools such as QGIS, Google Earth Engine, or GRASS
- Experience or coursework in coding for spatial analysis with Python, R, or JavaScript, or in remote sensing using optical or radar imagery
- Experience or coursework related to agriculture, environmental science, or natural resource management, ideally with exposure to carbon markets or sustainability certification
