Your Role And Responsibilities
- Responsible for recording and tracking financial transactions including prepaids, leasing, loans and preparing monthly journal entries.
- Month-End Reconciliations: prepare monthly reconciliations related to areas of responsibilities and various general ledger accounts.
- Ownership and Accuracy: take control of assigned areas to ensure accurate and complete values are posted to the financial statements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: maintain a collaborative work style to engage effectively with the organization and vendors while strictly adhering to internal policies and procedures.
- Month end and quarter end activities: support accounting team with various month end and quarterly tasks as required.
- Maintain and manage reconciliations of general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
General Ledger Support
- Assist in recording and tracking financial transactions, including prepaids, leases, and loans.
- Responsible for recording and reconciling leasing, loan, and prepaid activities, including preparing related journal entries.
- Prepare and post routine journal entries (accruals, adjustments, reclassifications).
- Monitor account balances and investigate or elevate discrepancies.
Month-End & Year-End Close
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on a timely basis.
- Assist in preparing supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting.
Account Reconciliations
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
- Ensure reconciliations are accurate, complete, and completed within deadlines.
Financial Accuracy & Ownership
- Take ownership of assigned tasks to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Maintain organized and audit‑ready documentation.
- Uphold data integrity across financial records.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing internal financial reports and schedules.
- Support variance analysis and identify basic trends or inconsistencies.
Compliance & Audit Support
- Follow accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to requests.
- Maintain organized records in compliance with US GAAP/IFRS standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with AP, AR, payroll, and other teams to ensure accurate financial data.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy in daily accounting tasks.
- Support automation and process enhancement initiatives.
Ad Hoc Support
- Assist the accounting team with additional month‑end tasks, projects, and operational needs as required.
Basic Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 0–2 years of accounting experience (internship or co‑op experience considered).
- Strong Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, basic formulas).
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Strong sense of accountability and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications And Experience
- Enrollment in or intention to pursue a CPA designation.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
- Exposure to month‑end close and account reconciliations.
- Basic understanding of US GAAP or IFRS.
- Experience working with multi‑currency transactions is an asset.
This is for an existing position. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and internal benchmarks. The base salary range is $70,000 – $90,000 CAD, plus eligibility for equity and benefits.
