Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Accountant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who is looking to develop their experience and progress their career within a busy finance environment.


The successful candidate will support the preparation of financial information, month-end and year-end reporting, financial controls, and general accounting activities.


Key Responsibilities



  • Assist with the preparation of complex journal entries and financial statements as part of the monthly and year-end close processes.

  • Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, ensuring business transactions are accurately recorded and appropriately documented.

  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports to provide an accurate view of current and projected financial position.

  • Review and audit contracts, orders, vouchers, and supporting documentation, preparing reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.

  • Support the development and recommendation of financial control systems and processes to ensure information is accurate, timely, and reliable.

  • Assist with general accounting activities and provide support to the wider finance function as required.

  • Support all relevant safety and quality programmes and initiatives.

  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as required, based on the evolving needs of the business and the requirements of the position.


Candidate Requirements



  • Part-qualified professional accounting qualification at CIMA, ACA, or ACCA level, or an Accounting Technician qualification.

  • 2โ€“4 years' relevant accounting experience.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

  • Good administrative and record-keeping skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

  • A proactive approach to learning, development, and taking on new responsibilities.
