Java Backend Developer – UPI & BBPS

About the Role

We are looking for a Java Backend Developer with 3–5 years of experience to work on UPI, PPI and BBPS backend applications. The candidate must have strong hands-on experience in Core Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Microservices, SQL and third-party API integrations.

Hands-on experience with at least one live UPI application / UPI app is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Core Java and Spring Boot.
• Build REST APIs and microservices for UPI and BBPS applications.
• Work on UPI transaction flows including initiation, validation, success/failed/pending handling, status enquiry, reversal, refund and callbacks/webhooks.
• Develop BBPS APIs for bill fetch, bill payment, transaction status, validation and reconciliation.
• Integrate with banks, PSPs, payment gateways, BBPS systems, billers and third-party APIs.
• Implement idempotency, duplicate prevention, retries, timeout handling and exception handling.
• Work with MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle and write optimized SQL queries.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform RCA and implement permanent fixes.
• Participate in testing, code reviews, performance optimization and production releases.

• Transaction states, reversals, refunds, retries and reconciliation
• BBPS experience is highly preferred
• Banking / FinTech / Digital Payments experience is an advantage

Good to Have

Kafka / RabbitMQ, Redis, Docker / Kubernetes, AWS/Cloud, CI/CD, Prometheus/Grafana/ELK and high-volume transaction processing.
