Job Title: IBM Power, AIX & Storage Infrastructure Engineer

An experience of 4–5 years, working in fast-paced medium to large enterprise environments.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in IBM Power Systems, PowerVM/VIOS, AIX administration, HMC, shell scripting, and enterprise storage technologies. Experience with Linux, IBM i, PowerVS, cloud platforms, OpenShift, and leading storage vendors will be an added advantage.

The role involves infrastructure administration, provisioning, troubleshooting, performance management, automation, and operational support for enterprise IBM Power and storage environments.

Key Responsibilities

IBM Power Systems & AIX

• Administer and support IBM Power Systems infrastructure in production environments.
• Perform AIX installation, configuration, administration, patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Manage and troubleshoot PowerVM and VIOS environments.
• Create, configure, modify, and manage LPARs using HMC.
• Manage virtual resources including virtual Ethernet, virtual SCSI, NPIV, and related PowerVM components.
• Perform LPAR provisioning, resource allocation, profile management, and capacity adjustments.
• Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and availability.
• Troubleshoot AIX OS, filesystem, LVM, networking, CPU, memory, and I/O-related issues.
• Perform hardware and system maintenance activities in coordination with relevant teams.
• Support planned maintenance, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure changes.
• Participate in incident, problem, and change management activities.

Hardware Management Console (HMC)

• Administer and maintain HMC environments.
• Manage Power Systems and associated LPARs through HMC.
• Perform LPAR profile management, resource allocation, activation, and deactivation.
• Monitor hardware status and investigate hardware-related alerts.
• Support Power firmware upgrades and hardware maintenance activities.
• Troubleshoot HMC, Power System, and LPAR connectivity or configuration issues.

Shell Scripting & Automation

• Develop and maintain Shell/KornShell/Bash scripts for administration and automation.
• Automate routine operational and monitoring activities.
• Create scripts for system health checks, reporting, log analysis, housekeeping, and administration.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation.

Enterprise Storage

• Administer and troubleshoot enterprise block and file storage environments.
• Strong understanding of Fibre Channel (FC) and iSCSI protocols.
• Troubleshoot SAN connectivity, LUN presentation, multipathing, and host-storage communication.
• Work with storage and network teams on zoning, masking, mapping, and connectivity issues.
• Perform storage provisioning, capacity management, and performance monitoring.
• Support IBM storage environments, including block and file storage solutions.
• Investigate storage performance and availability issues affecting AIX and Power workloads.

Required Skills

• 4–5+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure administration in medium to large enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with IBM Power Systems.
• Hands-on experience with PowerVM and VIOS.
• Strong AIX administration experience.
• Hands-on experience with IBM HMC.
• Strong Shell/KornShell/Bash scripting skills.
• Good understanding of enterprise storage concepts.
• Strong understanding of Fibre Channel and iSCSI.
• Experience with IBM Block and File Storage.
• Strong troubleshooting and incident-management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
