BCIT Solutions is looking for an experienced and customer-focused IT Support & Field Technician to join our team in Bathurst.

This is a hands-on role combining remote technical support, workshop work and onsite client service. You will support a diverse range of Central West businesses, working across Microsoft 365, networks, endpoints, cybersecurity, servers, cloud services and business technology.

The position is suited to an established technician who is comfortable handling Level 2 and selected Level 3 support issues, communicating directly with clients and travelling to customer sites when required.

About the role

You will be responsible for providing professional remote and onsite technical support, taking ownership of assigned jobs from initial diagnosis through to resolution and documentation.

Your work will include:

  • Providing remote, workshop and onsite technical support
  • Diagnosing and resolving desktop, laptop, server and network issues
  • Administering Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID and related services
  • Installing and configuring computers, printers, networking equipment and peripherals
  • Supporting Windows 10, Windows 11 and Windows Server environments
  • Assisting with Microsoft Intune, endpoint management and device deployments
  • Installing and supporting switches, firewalls and wireless networks
  • Assisting with cybersecurity, backup and business continuity solutions
  • Completing onsite maintenance, installations and project work
  • Maintaining clear and accurate ticket notes and technical documentation
  • Explaining technical issues to clients in practical, easy-to-understand language
  • Escalating complex incidents appropriately while retaining ownership of the client experience
  • Following BCIT Solutions’ security, documentation and service-delivery procedures

About you

You are a capable technician who enjoys solving problems and working directly with clients. You communicate clearly, take responsibility for your work and understand that good IT support involves both technical knowledge and excellent customer service.

Essential requirements

  • At least two years’ experience in an IT support, helpdesk, field-service or managed-services role
  • Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding skills
  • Experience supporting Windows desktops and laptops
  • Practical Microsoft 365 administration experience
  • Sound understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switching and wireless networking
  • Ability to manage assigned tickets and work independently or as part of a project team
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to documentation and job notes
  • Current Australian driver license
  • Ability and willingness to travel to client sites as needed
  • Australian working rights

Highly regarded

  • Previous experience working for a Managed Service Provider
  • Microsoft Entra ID, Intune and Exchange Online experience
  • Windows Server and Active Directory experienceExperience supporting UniFi networking, wireless, CCTV or access-control products
  • Firewall, VPN and network-security experience
  • Cybersecurity and backup-management experience
  • Microsoft, CompTIA, Ubiquiti or similar industry certifications
  • Experience delivering technology rollouts or small IT projects

Travel

This position includes regular travel to client sites in Bathurst and surrounding areas, with occasional travel to other Central West locations.

Authorised work-related travel time is paid in accordance with the applicable Award and company policy. A company vehicle will be provided where available, or approved use of a personal vehicle will be reimbursed in accordance with the applicable arrangements.

Hours and flexibility

The successful applicant may choose between:

  • A standard 38-hour working week; or
  • A 40-hour attendance arrangement with additional time accrued toward a rostered day off.

The applicable arrangement will be agreed and documented as part of the employment offer.

  • Earn $28.00+ per hour plus superannuation, field service allowances and other Award-based entitlements, with remuneration based on demonstrated skills and experience.

Classification

This is a full-time position covered by the Business Equipment Award 2020 (MA000021).

Appointment is expected to be at Technician Level 3 or Technician Level 4, depending on the successful applicant’s qualifications, demonstrated competency, technical independence and assigned responsibilities.
