Intermediate | Senior Accountant
Koustas & Co
Job Description
We're looking for an Intermediate | Senior Accountant with 3+ years' Australian public practice experience to join our team.
You’ve done the groundwork. You know your way around a set of financials. You’ve survived enough tax seasons to know what’s what and now you’re ready for more. More client exposure. More interesting work. More responsibility. More understanding of why the numbers matter — and less feeling like you’re just getting jobs out the door.
Key responsibilities
Prepare financial statements and tax returns across companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
Provide advice and assistance regarding wealth creation outside of business operations, including self-managed super funds (SMSFs) and other investment structures
Get involved in tax planning, management reporting and advisory work
Work directly with clients — not just through layers of management
Liaise with the ATO and help clients navigate issues as they arise
Work alongside Managers and Directors on more complex matters
Manage client relationships and become a trusted point of contact
Help mentor and support graduates and junior accountants
About you
You’re good with numbers, but you’re even better with people.
You build strong relationships, communicate confidently and genuinely enjoy helping clients solve problems. You're curious, proactive and keen to keep developing your skills. You're humble enough to know there's always more to learn but motivated enough to keep pushing yourself forward. Technically, you'll have:
3+ years' experience in Australian public practice
An Accounting, Commerce or related degree
CA/CPA completed or well underway
Solid experience preparing financial statements and income tax returns
Experience across companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals
Strong communication and client relationship skills
Experience with Xero and cloud-based accounting systems
The ability to manage deadlines and take ownership of your work
