About Lean Hyphen

Lean Hyphen is building India's next-generation K–10 skill development curriculum.

Our programmes help students develop the competencies that matter beyond examinations—critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, communication, creativity, STEM literacy and future-ready life skills.

Through immersive, project-based learning experiences, students investigate real-world challenges, build solutions, test ideas, iterate and reflect. Every project is designed around measurable 21st-century competencies while aligning with NEP 2020, NCF 2023, CBSE Competency-Based Education, Kaushal Bodh and Kaushal Vikas.

About the Role:

We're looking for an Instructional Designer who thinks like a Learning Experience Designer.

This is not a traditional lesson-planning or content-writing role.

You'll research real-world systems, industries, engineering challenges, civic infrastructure, technology, businesses and communities, then transform those insights into engaging, inquiry-driven learning experiences for students.

Our projects typically span 6–10 classroom periods, where students investigate authentic challenges, collaborate, prototype, test, reflect and improve. You'll design complete learning experiences that develop measurable 21st-century skills while supporting Lean Hyphen's digital learning ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research & Learning Design

  • Research real-world systems, industries, technologies and societal challenges.
  • Investigate authentic problems suitable for different age groups.
  • Conduct research on NEP 2020, NCF 2023, Kaushal Bodh, Kaushal Vikas, CBSE Competency-Based Education, government skill development initiatives and global future skills frameworks.
  • Benchmark leading curriculum providers, EdTech companies and innovative learning models.
  • Translate research into meaningful classroom experiences, projects, assessments and digital learning content.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends in education, pedagogy, AI and future skills.

2. Learning Experience & Curriculum Design

  • Design original project-based, experiential and competency-based learning experiences for Grades 1–10.
  • Develop inquiry-driven projects that build critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and problem-solving.
  • Design age-appropriate learning journeys spanning 6–10 classroom periods.
  • Create comprehensive curriculum resources, including:
  • Project Briefs
  • Driving Questions
  • Learning Outcomes
  • Period-wise Learning Flow
  • Teacher Guides
  • Student Resources
  • Worksheets
  • Projects & Simulations
  • Assessments & Rubrics
  • Reflection Activities
  • Facilitation Notes
  • Competency Mapping

3. Digital Learning & AI-Assisted Content Development

  • Design engaging digital learning experiences for Lean Hyphen's LMS.
  • Develop interactive lessons, quizzes, missions, reflection activities and gamified learning journeys.
  • Create scripts for learning videos, teacher training modules and multimedia learning resources.
  • Use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity or similar platforms to support research, ideation and content development.
  • Review, fact-check and refine AI-generated content to ensure originality, instructional quality and academic accuracy.

4. Collaboration & Innovation

  • Work closely with the Curriculum, Product, Design, Implementation and Technology teams.
  • Participate in curriculum pilots, classroom observations and product validation.
  • Continuously refine curriculum based on classroom feedback and implementation insights.
  • Support the development of teacher training materials, implementation guides and academic resources.
  • Contribute ideas for new programmes, projects and future-ready learning solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning Sciences, English, Psychology or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, educational content development or EdTech.
  • Experience designing K–12 curriculum is preferred.
  • Familiarity with NEP 2020, NCF 2023, Kaushal Bodh, Kaushal Vikas and competency-based education is highly desirable.

Must Have Experience in:

  • Project-Based Learning (PBL)
  • Experiential Learning
  • Design Thinking
  • Innovation Education

You should also have:

  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent instructional design and curriculum development skills.
  • Systems thinking and inquiry-based learning design.
  • Strong curriculum writing and documentation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex real-world topics into engaging learning experiences.
  • Excellent written English and attention to detail.

Nice to Have:

  • STEM Education
  • Engineering Education
  • Science Communication
  • Maker Education

Exposure to LEGO Education, Arduino, robotics kits, sensors, electronics or maker tools is desirable but not mandatory.

Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), Canva, Google Workspace or Microsoft Office is an added advantage.

Portfolio;

Please share examples of:

  • Original learning experiences or projects you've designed.
  • Research behind at least one project.
  • Student outcomes or classroom implementation (if available).
  • Examples showing how you've improved a project based on feedback.

We're interested in understanding how you think and design, not just the final output.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs);

  • Timely delivery of curriculum and learning experiences.
  • Quality, creativity and originality of instructional design.
  • Alignment with NEP 2020, NCF 2023, Kaushal Bodh and Kaushal Vikas.
  • Contribution to LMS and digital learning content.
  • Research quality and innovation.
  • Timely completion of revisions and collaborative projects.

Our Hiring Process:

You'll receive an unfamiliar real-world challenge and be asked to:

  • Understand and research the problem.
  • Think aloud and ask clarifying questions.
  • Design a project-based learning experience.
  • Explain your instructional decisions.
  • Map the competencies students will develop.

We're evaluating your thinking process and learning experience design approach—not perfect answers.

Working Conditions;

  • Monday to Saturday
  • Collaborate with multiple teams across Curriculum, Product, Design, Implementation and Technology.
  • Occasional travel to schools for classroom observations, curriculum validation, teacher interactions, workshops and pilot implementations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high quality and meeting deadlines.

Why Join Lean Hyphen?

At Lean Hyphen, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of K–12 education. You'll design innovative learning experiences that combine curriculum, technology, AI and experiential learning to help students build future-ready skills. If you're passionate about creating meaningful educational experiences and want to contribute to a fast-growing education company, we'd love to hear from you.
