We are currently seeking an Inspector - The Asphalt Paving Inspector will provide on-site quality assurance and ensure all paving operations are performed in strict accordance with project specifications and applicable VDOT requirements. The Inspector will play a critical role in maintaining quality, safety, and compliance throughout all phases of asphalt construction. Responsibilities: • Perform daily on-site inspection of asphalt paving operations to verify compliance with contract documents, plans, specifications, and VDOT standards • Monitor surface preparation, tack coat application, asphalt placement, rolling patterns, and joint construction • Observe and document paving temperatures, compaction efforts, and lift thickness to ensure proper installation • Verify proper calibration and operation of paving and compaction equipment • Coordinate and witness field sampling and testing, including density testing and asphalt mix verification • Maintain detailed daily inspection reports documenting crew activity, equipment used, weather conditions, and work progress • Identify and document non-conforming work and coordinate corrective actions with contractors and project management • Attend pre-paving meetings and participate in progress and safety meetings • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and project-specific safety requirements • Communicate effectively with contractors, project managers, and agency representatives to resolve field issues in a timely manner • Prepare weekly summaries and support final inspections and project closeout documentation • Proficient with AWP, iPad/Plangrid/Procore and other standard programs used by VDOT Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED • Basic understanding of asphalt paving operations, construction practices, and materials testing procedures • Ability to prepare clear and concise daily inspection reports • Strong verbal and written communication skills Alpha Corporation offers excellent career opportunities for continued professional, educational and personal growth.
