Human Resources Manager
Colada Shop
Job Description
Colada Shop Human Resources Manager Full-Time | On-Site | Hospitality About the Role Colada Shop is looking for a dynamic and people-first HR Manager to lead our human resources function across our growing shop locations. You will be the go-to person for everything people-related — from hiring great talent and running a smooth payroll operation, to managing office operations and keeping us fully licensed and compliant. This is a hands-on, multi-faceted role in a fast-paced retail and hospitality environment where no two days look the same.
Key Responsibilities People & Talent Lead end-to-end recruitment for all roles — from baristas and shift supervisors to corporate staff — including job postings, interviews, and offer letters. Design and deliver engaging onboarding programs that set new hires up for success from day one. Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, handling inquiries, concerns, and conflict resolution with empathy and professionalism.
Oversee performance review cycles and coach managers through constructive feedback conversations. Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that reflect our commitment to an inclusive workplace. Coordinate training and development programs in partnership with location managers.
Payroll & Compensation Own and manage the full payroll cycle — processing hourly and salaried payroll accurately and on time, every pay period. Maintain compensation structures that are competitive, equitable, and aligned with budget. Handle payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, and year-end W-2 and 1099 filings in coordination with our finance team.
Continuously improve payroll systems and processes for accuracy and efficiency. Benefits Management Own the full lifecycle of employee benefits programs — health, dental, vision, life insurance, FSA/HSA, and any retirement plans (e.g., 401k). Serve as the primary liaison with benefits brokers and carriers, managing open enrollment, plan renewals, and ongoing employee inquiries.
Educate employees on available benefits during onboarding and open enrollment periods, ensuring strong participation and understanding. Manage leave of absence programs including FMLA, short-term disability, and other state-mandated leave in compliance with applicable laws. Track and audit benefits billing and deductions to ensure accuracy and flag discrepancies to payroll and finance.
Regularly benchmark the benefits package against industry standards and make recommendations to leadership for improvements. Administer employee wellness programs and perks, including any employee discount or recognition initiatives. License & Regulatory Compliance Track and manage all required business licenses, permits, and certifications across all Colada Shop locations, ensuring timely renewals.
Ensure all applicable team members hold current ABRA (Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration) certifications — coordinate training, track expiration dates, and manage renewals. Oversee ServSafe food handler and food manager certification for relevant staff — schedule training sessions, maintain records, and ensure full compliance across locations. Administer mandatory Sexual Harassment Prevention training for all employees at time of hire and on required annual or biennial cycles, maintaining completion records.
Build and maintain a centralized certification tracker covering all required licenses and training across the team, with automated reminders for upcoming renewals. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws including wage and hour regulations, OSHA requirements, and food service guidelines. Maintain up-to-date employee records, I-9 documentation, and HR policies in line with legal requirements.
Serve as the point of contact for any labor audits, investigations, or regulatory inquiries. Proactively monitor changes in employment law and update company policies and practices accordingly. Team Engagement Own and produce a regular employee newsletter that keeps the team informed, celebrated, and connected — covering company updates, shoutouts, upcoming events, and culture highlights.
Plan and execute team-building events, seasonal celebrations, and shop-level activities that strengthen relationships and boost morale. Develop an annual engagement calendar with a mix of in-store, cross-location, and leadership-driven touchpoints. Gather and act on employee feedback through surveys, pulse checks, and one-on-one conversations to continuously improve the employee experience.
Partner with leadership to recognize milestones — work anniversaries, promotions, and performance achievements — in meaningful ways. Champion a positive, inclusive workplace culture that reflects the Colada Shop brand inside and out. Office Management Oversee day-to-day office operations, ensuring a well-organized, well-stocked, and welcoming work environment for the team.
Manage vendor relationships for office supplies, equipment, and facilities services. Coordinate internal communications, company-wide announcements, and team events. Support operational planning as the business scales, including workspace needs and team logistics.
Own HR systems and tools, ensuring data integrity, access controls, and regular reporting on headcount, turnover, and hiring metrics. Qualifications 2+ years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a retail, hospitality, or high-volume environment. Hands-on payroll management experience (Gusto, ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms preferred).
Familiarity with business licensing and multi-location regulatory compliance. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus). Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and payroll compliance.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — you are approachable, clear, and fair. Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple priorities across people, compliance, and operations. Genuine passion for people and building positive workplace cultures.
What We Offer Competitive salary and performance-based bonus. Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits. Generous employee discounts and perks.
A collaborative, mission-driven team that genuinely cares about each other. Room to grow as we expand — we love promoting from within. Paid time off and flexible scheduling where possible.
