We partner with major clients across mining, defence, infrastructure, marine, energy and industrial maintenance, providing services including scaffolding and engineered access, rope access, shutdown services, coatings, insulation and cladding, confined space management and project access management.
Role Overview
As the HSEQ Manager you will be responsible for providing support, systems and processes to directly assist the company in the day-to-day management of SMS Group Services by monitoring current and potential quality, environmental, health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace, participating in corporate-level hazard assessments, developing and approving controls for identified hazards, keeping up to date with legislative and industry developments, and ensuring compliance with all legislation regarding quality, environment, health, and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- To constantly promote the highest standards for HSEQ to all levels of the Company.
- To demonstrate and promote the Values, Policies and Standards of the Company.
- Assist in the implementation of the HSEQ Management System and aid others in its use and their understanding.
- Conduct investigations to the fullest extent and disseminate the learnings Operations‑wide to protect our people further.
- Conduct compliance activities at all levels of the operation to ensure the highest standards are being met.
- Ensure that all necessary HSEQ documentation (including statutory reporting) is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
- Communicate & cooperate with all levels of Management to best facilitate the needs of their workforce and positive outcomes for the company.
- Facilitate Employees, Clients and Contractors to achieve the 'win/win' outcomes in all HSEQ-related situations.
- Develop, mentor and coach all team leaders in SMS Group Services.
- Develop and implement an Audit programme across the operation.
- To have a flexible, professional approach and the highest personal standards.
- To oversee Injury Management.
- To develop, implement, and maintain the SMS Document Control System.
Criteria & Mandatory Skills
- Proven experience as a Safety Manager.
- Certificate IV in Safety Management or relevant field.
- Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
- Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies.
- Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑motivated with a positive attitude.
- Ability to work towards a deadline, with effective time management.
- Proficient with Credenxia, SharePoint, JobAdder, Damstra, Who's On Location, Induct For Work, MyOSH and Microsoft Office.
