Job Description
Job Summary A band 7 Physiologist (BHRS accredited) is required to assist in the planning and delivery of a specialised Cardiology diagnostics service at the Aintree Cardiology Department. The role will involve both non‑invasive and invasive testing, including ECG, ambulatory monitoring, Tilt Table Testing, Exercise Tolerance Testing, echocardiography, cardiac catheterisation and permanent pacing, as well as implant and follow‑up services. Key Responsibilities Undertake independently advanced cardiac investigations and therapy.
Perform direct patient contact physiology procedures. Analyse, interpret and report complex clinical data, liaising with medical staff for unexpected events. Follow up and appropriately manage patients with implantable cardiac devices.
Document all investigations and adjustments accurately. Maintain professional development in new device techniques and advances. Assist the implanting consultant in pacemaker implantation, performing initial checks.
Lead and supervise within ETT areas, including obtaining patient consent and advising clinicians as necessary. Provide daily follow‑up and remote follow‑up clinics for Brady implant and ILR services. Contribute to services for the acute A&E department, managing unwell complex device patients.
Qualifications & Experience Essential Substantial post‑qualification experience. Proficiency in single‑chamber and dual‑chamber pacing. Experience training all grades of staff.
Degree in Cardiac Clinical Physiologist or equivalent. BHRS accreditation. ILS training.
RCCP / AHCS / HCPC registration. Good computer skills, communication and interpersonal skills, team working and managerial skills. Self‑disciplined, motivated, adaptable, able to concentrate for long periods, able to motivate others.
Desirable Managerial experience and qualification. Training for trainers certificate. Knowledge Importance of confidentiality, health and safety, data protection.
Wide range of cardiology knowledge including ECGs and ambulatory ECG analysis. Skills & Personal Qualities Good computer skills. Team working skills.

Employment Details Band 7 – Salary £49,387 to £56,515 per annum – Permanent, Full‑time – University Hospital Aintree, Longmoor Lane, Liverpool, L9 7AL.
