Head of Liability Netherlands Location: Amstelveen

Division: Liability

Reports to: Underwriting Director Netherlands

Responsibilities

Develop the strategy for the assigned class and/or customer segment and ensure planning, management, execution and optimisation of the activities within the assigned class, in line with authority letters, underwriting guidelines, MSIG acceptance policy and MSIG reinsurance policy, to realise financial and commercial targets.

Responsible for yearly premium income of €100 million.

Lead the Liability underwriting team of 16 persons.

Serve both binder and bourse business, local and multinational, middle‑market and major clients across broad industries.

Class strategy: develop, implement and monitor strategy and planning for the assigned class to achieve objectives.

Product development and market development: translate market developments into products, policy conditions and acceptance policy to build a profitable portfolio.

Portfolio management and acquisition: prepare commercial offers and advise end customers and brokers during acquisition to retain and win clients.

Underwriting: analyse, assess and price risks based on authority letters, underwriting guidelines, policy conditions and relevant criteria for risk acceptance and pricing.

Re‑underwriting: assess risks of continuing a policy after a claim to determine premium and policy adjustments.

Relationship management: develop and maintain sustainable relations with customers, brokers, reinsurers and other stakeholders.

Knowledge development: build and share knowledge on class, market, technique and laws to improve underwriting quality and innovation.

Operating Environment and Context Responsible for a large book of business, ensuring all underwriting processes are embedded, optimised and monitored.

Requirements

Master / academic degree

≥10 years of relevant experience

Fluency in Dutch & English
