Location: Remote (India), occasional site visits preferred but not mandatory. Engagement: Freelance / Part-time | Per-project or monthly retainer Industry: Energy Storage / C&I Energy Solutions About us We are an early-stage energy platform helping large industrial and manufacturing facilities reduce power costs through Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). We work directly with plant heads, finance leaders, and technical teams to evaluate, design, and deploy storage solutions for applications like peak shaving, ToD arbitrage, DG offset, and solar integration.

The Role We are looking for an experienced BESS engineer to own the technical design and feasibility workstream for our client engagements. You will work alongside our business team to convert client site data into bankable, decision-ready feasibility studies. Scope of work Analyze client load profiles, electricity bills, and DG usage data to identify the right BESS use case (peak shaving, ToD arbitrage, backup, solar coupling) Carry out BESS sizing โ€” power (MW) and energy (MWh) capacity, C-rate, depth of discharge, cycle life assumptions, and degradation modeling Prepare techno-commercial feasibility reports: system architecture, single-line diagrams, savings estimates, and payback analysis Recommend system configurations and evaluate OEM/vendor offerings (cells, PCS, EMS, BMS) Ensure designs align with Indian regulatory and safety standards (CEA regulations, relevant IS/IEC standards, DISCOM interconnection norms) Support client conversations as the technical voice โ€” on calls and, where feasible, during site visits Help standardize our feasibility methodology and report templates over time What We Are Looking For 4+ years in power systems / renewable energy, with hands-on BESS design or deployment experience (C&I or utility-scale) Strong grasp of BESS sizing and simulation โ€” comfort with tools such as ETAP, HOMER, DIgSILENT, or equivalent in-house models Working knowledge of Indian electricity tariff structures (ToD slabs, demand charges, banking rules) and how they drive BESS economics Familiarity with lithium-ion technologies (LFP/NMC), PCS, BMS, and EMS architectures Ability to translate technical analysis into clear, client-facing reports B.E./B.Tech in Electrical/Power/Energy Engineering (Master's a plus)
