Founding Associate – Operations
Kompanion
Job Description
About Kompanion
Founders deserve to spend their time building companies, not dealing with accounting, taxes, payroll, and administrative work.
Kompanion is building the operating system for founders. We combine expert services with proprietary software to manage the operational side of running a company in one connected experience.
Technology and AI are at the core of everything we do. Our ambition is to make our specialists radically more efficient and rigorous, while giving founders the visibility and control they need to focus on growing their business.
About the Opportunity
We’re looking for our first dedicated Operations hire to join Kompanion as a Founding Associate and one of the first employees in the company.
You’ll own the client onboarding experience end to end, with a clear mission: make it as automated and scalable as possible. A good part of it is already productised, and your job is to push it much further.
This is a hands-on, cross-functional role sitting at the intersection of Operations, Accounting, and Product. You’ll work directly with clients, our accounting team, and engineering, turning what you learn on the ground into a smoother onboarding and a better product.
You don’t need an accounting background. We’re looking for someone who’s great at optimising and automating processes and wants to apply that to the world of accounting. We already know accounting well — we’ll teach you what you need. What we can’t teach is the instinct for spotting manual, repetitive work and turning it into something faster and scalable.
This is a rare opportunity to shape how Kompanion operates from the very beginning and to define the playbook the whole ops team will follow as we grow.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own client onboarding end to end, from kickoff to a client fully live on Kompanion, and relentlessly automate it.
- Build MVPs of new product features based on real client feedback, working closely with clients, accounting, and tech to define, test, and iterate.
- Be the voice of the client internally, surfacing friction, edge cases, and opportunities to standardise and productise.
- Turn manual, repetitive work into repeatable processes and automations, documenting the playbook as you go.
What You’ll Need
- 2+ years in operations, process optimisation, consulting, or a client-facing role at a startup or fast-moving environment — ideally somewhere you’ve made messy, manual processes faster and more efficient.
- A strong bias for automation: you instinctively look for ways to remove manual work and you’re comfortable with tools, spreadsheets, and no-code/low-code, and eager to work alongside AI.
- Excellent client communication: you can build trust, explain complex topics simply, and manage expectations.
- High autonomy and ownership: you turn ambiguous, messy situations into clear processes and shipped outcomes.
- Fluent Spanish and English.
A degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related field is welcome, but not required. Experience in finance is a plus, not a requirement — if you’re great with processes, we’ll teach you the rest.
Nice to Have
- Experience defining or improving processes at an early-stage startup.
- Experience working closely with product and engineering teams.
- A track record of building automations or internal tools, even simple ones.
- Previous early-stage startup experience.
Who You Are
- You’re hands-on, low-ego, and want to build.
- You’re equally comfortable talking to a client, digging into a messy set of accounts, and sketching a new feature with engineering.
- You balance speed with rigor, challenge decisions constructively, and seek the source of truth.
- You care about outcomes, communicate clearly, and help others improve.
Why Join Us
You’ll join at the beginning and help shape how Kompanion operates, our onboarding, our processes, our product, and our team.
As the first person on the ops team, you’ll have significant ownership and a clear path to grow with the company as we scale.
We’re ambitious, move with intensity, and trust people who take responsibility for their work.
You’ll receive:
- 25 working days of annual leave
- Flexible hybrid work in Barcelona, usually 2–3 days per week
- High flexibility for people who deliver
- Expected start date between August and September.
- Parking available at the office.
- Lunch provided on selected office days.
- Phantom shares / equity options may be available depending on the profile and compensation package.
Our Hiring Process
- Introductory call: A first conversation about your experience, motivations, and the role.
- Case / working session: A collaborative session working through a real onboarding-style scenario with the team.
- Founder conversation: An informal final conversation to get to know each other and confirm mutual alignment.
The entire process is remote.
Equal Opportunity
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and make hiring decisions based on skills, potential, and alignment with the role.
Please apply even if you don’t meet every requirement. If you need any adjustments during the process, let us know.
