Floor Manager
Shuka
Job Description
Shuka, led by Chef/Partner Ayesha Nurdjaja, is looking for a passionate FLOOR MANAGER to join our hospitality team!
Located in the heart of SoHo, Shuka has become a cornerstone of the neighborhood — a welcoming spot where the energy of the block meets the vibrant flavors of Eastern Mediterranean cuisine. Every dish bursts with layered, nuanced flavors, crafted with responsibly sourced ingredients from local farms and the greenmarket. We proudly serve lunch, dinner, and brunch.
Celebrated for its bold, abundant style of dining, Shuka set the stage as the inspiration for its sister restaurant, Shukette.
Chef Ayesha brings her dynamic perspective and love of shareable dishes, shaped by her extensive travels and culinary roots. At Shuka, meals are designed to feel generous, flavorful, and deeply connected to the markets and farms that sustain us. The hospitality team plays a vital role in bringing this vision to the guest — ensuring service that is warm, attentive, and as memorable as the food itself.
Shuka is part of The Bowery Group (Cookshop, Rosie’s, Shukette, Vic’s), a group of restaurants recognized with accolades such as James Beard nominations, New York Times “Top 10 New Restaurants of 2021,” and numerous features in leading publications. Across our group, we are committed to supporting small farms, highlighting seasonal produce, and bringing guests honest, respectfully produced cuisine at peak freshness.
If you’re excited about vibrant flavors, seasonal cooking, and creating outstanding guest experiences, we’d love to welcome you to the Shuka team.
About the Role: As a leader on the floor, you’ll be responsible for ensuring every guest experience is memorable, supporting the FOH team in delivering exceptional service, and maintaining the high standards of hospitality that define The Bowery Group.
What You’ll Do
- Be a visible, active leader on the floor, setting the tone for service and hospitality.
- Build strong guest relationships — recognizing return guests, engaging high-importance guests, and welcoming new ones.
- Supervise, train, and coach FOH staff to deliver consistent service, food, and beverage knowledge.
- Oversee onboarding and training, ensuring staff complete all requirements before working live shifts.
- Maintain and update training manuals and service standards.
- Support daily operations: guest seating flow, pacing the book, table touches, resolving guest concerns, and expediting with the Chef during busy shifts.
- Conduct opening and closing responsibilities, ensuring the restaurant is secure and ready for the next service.
- Partner with management on special projects and service improvements.
What We’re Looking For
- A hospitality-first leader who thrives in a hands-on role.
- Proven ability to train, coach, and develop FOH staff.
- Strong knowledge of service flow, guest relations, and floor management.
- Confidence in handling high-volume service and guest issues with professionalism.
- A collaborative, positive presence who motivates the team by example.
What You’ll Need

- Proficiency with POS systems, reservation platforms, and Google/Microsoft Office Suite.
- NYC DOH Food Handler & ServSafe Management certification (within 90 days).
- Sexual harassment prevention training certification (within 30 days).
