Financial Accountant Location: Limerick Industry: Multi-Site Retail Pharmacy Group Experience Required: 4+ Years Post Qualification Preferred About the Role We are seeking a commercially focused and fully qualified Financial Accountant to join our expanding retail pharmacy group. This is a key finance role supporting a network of pharmacy locations, providing high-quality management reporting, financial analysis, and KPI performance insights to senior leadership. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in analysing business performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and driving informed decision-making through robust financial reporting and commercial analysis.
This role offers significant exposure to senior management and operational teams across the business. Key Responsibilities Management Reporting Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts for multiple retail pharmacy locations. Produce comprehensive management reporting packs for senior leadership.
Deliver detailed variance analysis against budget, forecast, prior year and key performance targets. Present clear and concise financial commentary, highlighting key business drivers, risks and opportunities. Support the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
KPI & Financial Performance Analysis Develop and maintain financial and operational KPI reporting across all pharmacy locations. Analyse sales performance, gross margin, labour costs, inventory management, dispensing activity, and other key retail metrics. Monitor performance against agreed KPIs and identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring corrective action.
Provide actionable insights to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and overall business performance. Support senior management with data-driven recommendations and commercial decision-making. Business Partnering Act as a finance business partner to Pharmacy Managers and Operational Leadership teams.
Drive performance discussions through meaningful financial analysis and reporting. Support strategic initiatives through detailed financial modelling and business case preparation. Assist in evaluating commercial opportunities, investments, and operational improvement projects.
Financial Control & Compliance Ensure strong financial controls and reporting accuracy across the group. Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and oversee month-end close activities. Support external audits and statutory reporting requirements.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies. Identify and implement process improvements within the finance function. Candidate Requirements Qualifications & Experience Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA).
Minimum 4 years' experience in a financial accounting, management accounting, or commercial finance role. Experience within retail, pharmacy, healthcare, FMCG, or another multi-site environment is highly desirable. Proven track record in management reporting, financial analysis, and KPI performance reporting.
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and business performance management. Skills & Competencies Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Advanced Excel and financial modelling capabilities. Experience working with ERP systems and business intelligence/reporting tools. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
