An established and growing Australian organisation operating across the aged care, disability and community services sectors is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its team.

About the Role
The Finance Manager will lead the organisation’s finance function and be responsible for maintaining strong financial control, accurate management reporting, effective cash flow management and reliable end-to-end finance operations.
This role will oversee the full finance lifecycle, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations, month‑end close, statutory support and financial reporting. The successful candidate will provide leadership to a small finance team, ensuring processes are accurate, consistent, well documented and supported by effective systems and governance.
This is a hands‑on role suited to an experienced Finance Manager who is comfortable balancing operational finance responsibilities with broader business improvement initiatives. You will be expected to identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and provide meaningful financial insights to support organisational decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Finance Leadership & Operations
- Lead, support and develop the finance team, including setting priorities, allocating workloads and maintaining accountability.
- Oversee daily finance operations across payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and general finance activities.
- Review and quality‑assure finance processing, reconciliations and reporting completed by the team.
- Establish clear finance processes, procedures and operating rhythms to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Build team capability through cross‑training, documentation and continuous improvement.
- Own the month‑end close process and ensure accurate and timely management reporting.
- Maintain strong financial controls, including appropriate review, approval and reconciliation processes.
- Oversee multi‑entity accounting environments, including Xero ledgers, intercompany reconciliations and chart of accounts integrity.
- Support statutory reporting requirements, including payroll, superannuation, PAYG, BAS and external accountant requirements.
- Maintain audit‑ready financial records and documentation.
3. Accounts Payable, Receivables & Cash Flow Management
- Oversee supplier, contractor and third‑party payment processes, ensuring accuracy, appropriate approvals and timely processing.
- Maintain visibility over payment commitments, outstanding approvals and overdue items.
- Manage billing, receivables and funding reconciliation processes across multiple service areas.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, working capital reporting and financial dashboards.
4. Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management
- Provide financial insights and reporting to support operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Partner with internal teams to improve financial processes, billing accuracy and revenue management.
- Take ownership of finance‑related enquiries, proactively communicating updates, issues, payment delays, adjustments and resolution timeframes.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis across business functions.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent), with a degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience as a Finance Manager within a small to medium‑sized organisation.
- Strong experience managing end‑to‑end finance operations, including financial reporting, month‑end close, payroll oversight, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial controls.
- Proven experience leading and developing a small finance team.
- Strong working knowledge of Xero, including multi‑entity environments, reconciliations and reporting.
- A highly organised and process‑driven approach, with the ability to implement practical governance and improve finance operations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain financial matters clearly and manage expectations effectively.
Experience within the following areas will be highly regarded:
- Aged care, disability, healthcare or community services sectors.
- Support at Home, CHSP or NDIS funding models.
- Funding claims, billing reconciliation and service‑based revenue models.
- Care management, rostering or billing systems such as VisualCare, ShiftCare or similar platforms.
