Job Description
An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Finance Manager or Senior Financial Accountant to join a highly regarded property development company based in Newcastle – residential & commercial projects.
Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll lead the financial accounting function, manage a small team and play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, compliance, budgeting and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
This is a hands-on leadership position suited to a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys improving processes, developing people and partnering with stakeholders across the business.
About the Role
As Finance Manager, you'll be responsible for:
- Leading the month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reporting process
- Managing the Financial Accountant team and supporting their development
- Preparing management reports, statutory financial statements and board reporting
- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and statutory reporting obligations
- Managing BAS, Payroll Tax, ATO and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets and general ledger integrity
- Managing relationships with external auditors and tax advisers
- Driving continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting and internal processes
- Partnering with stakeholders across the business to deliver timely financial insights and support decision-making.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- CA or CPA qualification – currently a must have
- Previous experience in a Finance Manager or Senior Financial Accountant role
- Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
- Budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management experience
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive mindset with a passion for process improvement
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced commercial environment.
