About the roleand about you

We're excited to introduce a newly created leadership opportunity for an experienced Income Manager to shape and lead SGCH's income management strategy and function. This role will play a critical part in balancing strong commercial outcomes with customer-centred service delivery, ensuring sustainable tenancy outcomes and supporting the long-term financial sustainability of our organisation.Reporting to the Director Customers, Shared Services, you'll provide enterprise-wide leadership of the income management function, including arrears management, debt recovery, income assessments, rent reviews, subsidy reviews, compliance, reporting and continuous improvement.

This is an opportunity to build capability, strengthen governance, lead a high-performing team and drive innovative approaches that improve both business performance and customer outcomes.

To succeed in this role, you will be a strategic and people-focused leader who combines strong commercial and financial acumen with a commitment to supporting diverse and vulnerable communities.

This is a permanent role, based at our Liverpool and Redfern offices, and requires travel to other SGCH office locations as required.

Duties

Lead and enhance SGCH's income management strategy, governance, compliance and performance frameworks.

Drive rental income optimisation, arrears reduction, and effective debt recovery outcomes.

Oversee income assessments, rent reviews, market rent appraisals and legislative compliance activities.

Utilise data, insights and risk management practices to improve performance and support informed decision-making.

Lead and develop a high-performing team while partnering with internal and external stakeholders to deliver sustainable tenancy outcomes and continuous improvement.

The recruitment process may include interviews and relevant skills or behavioural assessments with selection based on demonstrated merit against the role's criteria. Appointment is subject to standard pre-employment checks, such as working rights, employment references from previous managers, a National Police Check, and a health assessment.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in community development, business, finance or a relevant discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Extensive experience leading income management, arrears, debt recovery, rent reviews and compliance functions within social housing, government or other regulated service environments, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, privacy requirements and tenancy obligations
  • Proven success leading leaders and high-performing teams, driving operational performance, change, capability uplift and service excellence in complex environments
  • Strong commercial, analytical and compliance expertise, with the ability to use data-driven insights to improve income performance, manage risk, ensure legislative compliance, and deliver positive customer outcomes while supporting vulnerable and diverse communities
  • Hold a current NSW full Driver Licence and willingness to travel across SGCH offices and sites.
