Location: Atlanta, GA 30339 Contract Length: : 6+ months Job description Assignment Schedule: 40 hours a week Required PPE: Hardhat, steel toe EH work boots, traffic vest, work gloves, safety glass Perform data review and reporting of common environmental analyses including but not limited to chemistry bench analysis, gravimetric analysis, chromatography and spectrometry. The Planet Group is seeking an Environmental Laboratory Analyst II that will be responsible for collecting, monitoring, and analyzing environmental samples to detect pollutants and contaminants. This role supports environmental compliance efforts and ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.

The analyst works with samples from air, water, and soil using specialized equipment and established laboratory procedures. Key Responsibilities Sample Collection & Testing: Collect and analyze environmental samples (air, water, soil) using standard laboratory methods and equipment System Monitoring: Monitor environmental systems such as wastewater treatment, air pollution control, and waste management processes Data Analysis: Evaluate environmental data to assess conditions, identify trends, and measure system performance Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, permits, and standards Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation required for regulatory compliance and audits Emergency Response: Support environmental incident response efforts, including spills and other emergencies Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve monitoring processes and environmental performance Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or related field OR associate degree in a related field with relevant experience 5–10 years of experience in environmental monitoring, laboratory analysis, or related field Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards Proficiency with laboratory equipment and environmental testing methods Experience with data analysis tools and environmental reporting Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation Effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
