Your impact as an English teacher

  • You teach students how to use English in situations they will encounter in their future profession.
  • You help students with different language levels make progress in speaking, writing, listening, and reading.
  • You let students experience why English is relevant for their studies, internship, and future work.

This is what you will do as an English teacher

  • You teach English to MBO students in the Legal, Insurance & HR Services Specialist program, level 4.
  • You link English to recognizable professional situations, such as a business conversation, email, or presentation.
  • You develop and use teaching materials and assignments in which students actively apply English.
  • You administer and grade tests and exams.
  • You monitor the progress of students and provide concrete feedback that they can use to move forward.
  • You guide students in their learning process and hold them accountable for their own responsibility.
  • You coordinate with colleagues how English aligns with other parts of the study program.

As an English teacher, you will work within the Legal, Insurance & HR Services team alongside approximately 35 colleagues. Within the study program, the motto is: no relationship, no performance. Therefore, we invest in good contact with students and guide them together from enrollment to graduation.

  • A job of 0,8 to 1,0 FTE based on a one-year contract.
  • Teaching English that is directly relevant to students' professional practice.
  • Collaborating with colleagues who share responsibility for the education and supervision of students.
  • A salary in accordance with the MBO collective labor agreement, scale LB, between €3.713 and €5.495 gross per month based on full-time employment.
  • A fixed-term contract with the intention to extend.
  • A year-end bonus of 8,33%, participation in the ABP pension fund, and a laptop and phone on loan.
  • Develop yourself through a study program, course, or the annual development festival.

This is what we expect from you

  • You have completed a teacher training program in English, preferably at the secondary level.
  • You get students actively speaking, writing, listening, and reading.
  • In your lessons, you take differences in level and pace into account.
  • You link English language proficiency to situations from your studies, internships, and work.
  • You notice when a student is at risk of dropping out and discuss this with the student.
  • You seek out colleagues when coordination is needed and share ideas and teaching materials.
  • You critically review your lessons and adapt them when students need something different to achieve the learning objective.
