What you'll do
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Collaborate with product management and design teams to define project requirements and translate them into actionable engineering tasks.
- Implement best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
- Manage resource allocation and project timelines, ensuring optimal utilization of team members and adherence to project schedules.
- Analyze project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address potential challenges proactively.
- Facilitate regular team meetings to promote open communication, track progress, and address any issues that may arise.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the team remains competitive and innovative.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and inclusivity within the engineering team, encouraging diverse perspectives and ideas.
- Prepare and present project updates and performance metrics to senior management and stakeholders.
- Drive initiatives for process improvement, identifying areas where efficiency can be enhanced within the engineering workflow.
- Act as a liaison between engineering and other departments, ensuring alignment on project goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects from inception to completion.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++, and familiarity with modern development frameworks.
- Experience with cloud technologies and platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git, and project management tools like Jira or Trello.
- A commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team culture.
Nice to have
- Experience in the tech industry, particularly in areas such as IoT, AI, or machine learning.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools for automation and monitoring.
- Previous experience working in a startup or fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with user experience (UX) design principles and practices.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance and security standards in software development.
