Engineering Manager

About the Role The Engineering Manager – .NET role involves leading MCO global product development teams across the full software development life cycle using the Microsoft .NET technology stack. This position is accountable for ensuring high-quality engineering outcomes, optimizing customer experience, enforcing engineering standards, and driving automation. The role includes mentoring and developing engineers, proactively identifying and mitigating technical risks, and acting as a bridge between engineering, product management, and other stakeholders.

The Engineering Manager oversees deployment processes, monitors system health, and provides strong technical leadership during incidents and production issues. The overarching objective is to uphold MCO’s standards of professionalism, reliability, and innovation in software development. Responsibilities Own the effectiveness of the Scrum Agile process and ensure adherence to sound agile practices within the team.

Be accountable for the quality of team deliverables and the overall customer experience of MCO products. Lead .NET-based product development teams through all phases of the SDLC. Hands-on participation in technical activities including architecture and design reviews, code reviews, development, troubleshooting, and defect triage (up to 40%).

Define, implement, and enforce coding standards and best practices for .NET engineering teams. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate business and product requirements into robust technical solutions. Conduct regular code reviews to ensure maintainability, security, performance, and adherence to engineering standards.

Drive test automation, CI/CD adoption, and engineering productivity improvements across teams. Continuously improve development processes, tools, and practices to enhance quality and delivery efficiency. Mentor, coach, and develop engineers to support technical growth and career progression.

Identify technical risks early and proactively define mitigation strategies. Act as a technical liaison between engineering, product management, platform, and other stakeholders. Coordinate with Platform and Test teams to ensure comprehensive validation and testing of software solutions.

Oversee release and deployment processes to ensure reliable and predictable product launches. Monitor application and system performance, ensuring stability, scalability, and rapid issue resolution. Provide strong technical leadership during incidents and outages, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Lead and support .NET-based Windows desktop applications (WinForms/WPF) used by 100+ enterprise customers, ensuring reliability, scalability, and ease of deployment. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovation-driven engineering culture focused on delivering high-quality software. Experience and Skills 10+ years of experience in software product development, including up to 3 years in an engineering management role.

Strong hands-on experience with the .NET technology stack (C#, ASP.NET Core, Web APIs, microservices). Hands-on experience building and managing .NET Windows applications (WinForms/WPF) supporting 100+ active customers in production. Strong understanding of desktop application lifecycle management, including versioning, backward compatibility, upgrades, and operational support at scale.

Solid experience with architecture and design reviews, system design, code reviews, customer issue troubleshooting, and defect triage. Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases and distributed systems. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to address complex technical challenges.

A proactive, can-do mindset with the ability to adapt, prioritize, and lead through ambiguity. Demonstrated willingness to learn and promote a growth mindset within teams. Excellent communication skills and a servant-leadership approach to people management.

Strong understanding and practical experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Agile, Kanban). Experience in a product-driven SaaS or financial services environment is a plus. Prior architect or senior technical leadership experience is an added advantage.
