Job Description

  • Lead, mentor, and manage engineers, designers, and drafters supporting pressure equipment, piping, skids, heat exchangers, and custom fabricated products.
  • Oversee preparation and review of engineering calculations, fabrication drawings, general arrangements, detail drawings, layouts, bills of material, and
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables before release to customers, quality, procurement, project management, and fabrication.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable ASME codes, customer specifications, internal standards, quality requirements, and project
  • Coordinate engineering workload, priorities, and resource allocation across multiple active projects.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for design issues, fabrication questions, material concerns, code interpretation, and customer-driven changes.
  • Work closely with project management, quality control, procurement, production, welding, and shop teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant, cost-effective, and manufacturable.
  • Support department improvements related to drafting standards, drawing checking, design tools, documentation control, training, and engineering workflow efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; P.Eng. designation in Ontario is preferred.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, skids, heavy fabrication, custom equipment, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Previous experience leading engineers, designers, drafters, or a technical engineering team.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME pressure equipment design, ideally including Section VIII Div. 1 and/or Div. 2; exposure to Section III, CSA N285.0, or nuclear quality programs is an asset.
  • Ability to review mechanical calculations, fabrication drawings, piping layouts, engineered documentation, and customer specifications.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, machining, material selection, inspection, quality control, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, COMPRESS, PV Elite, FEA tools, or similar engineering/design software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced project environment.
