Senior Advanced Embedded Software Engineer

Region Eindhoven, fulltime (40 hours), hybrid

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer with a strong focus on embedded software and advanced development (proof-of-concept). This role is positioned within a high-tech engineering environment focused on innovative connected products.

The position is offered as a temporary assignment with the possibility of a deta‑vast (temp-to-perm) structure.

About the Role

In this role, you will work on the early-stage development of embedded solutions, including proof-of-concept creation, chipset evaluation, and low‑level hardware/software integration.

You will contribute to the development of advanced embedded solutions used in connected devices across a variety of high-tech and regulated domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop proof-of-concept solutions and evaluate new chipsets
  • Design and implement embedded software in modern C++
  • Support hardware bring‑up and low‑level debugging
  • Participate in the full development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, testing, and release
  • Ensure software meets quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, and FMEA sessions
  • Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests
  • Work in Agile/Scrum teams and contribute to planning and backlog management
  • Document design decisions and ensure proper handover of PoCs

Team & Environment

You will work in an international, highly skilled engineering team collaborating with colleagues across Europe, the US, and Asia. The team specializes in delivering robust embedded solutions for advanced embedded systems and works closely with hardware engineers and external partners.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in embedded software development

Technical Expertise

  • Strong experience with modern C++14 (and higher) and object-oriented design (SOLID principles)
  • Hands‑on experience with microcontrollers such as STM32, ESP32, or TI platforms
  • Experience with vendor SDKs / HAL layers (Programming, drivers, testing)
  • Knowledge of wireless connectivity
  • Strong knowledge of hardware/software integration (board bring‑up, debugging)
  • Familiar with SPI, I2C, UART and low-level communication protocols
  • Knowledge of RTOS concepts is a plus

Tools & Technologies

  • Git / GitHub (including CI/CD workflows)
  • CMake and build systems
  • Docker and automated pipelines
  • Test frameworks and quality tools

Nice to Have

  • Experience in regulated environments (e.g., medical or safety‑critical systems)
  • Knowledge of standards such as ISO 13485 / IEC 62304
  • Affinity with IoT and connected devices

Personal Skills

  • Strong focus on code craftsmanship and clean code
  • Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
  • Pragmatic, solution-oriented mindset (focused on fast validation)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Comfortable working with external partners and multidisciplinary teams
