If you enjoy tracing faults, solving problems and getting machinery moving again, this could be the next step in your electrical maintenance career.
Based at a major automated distribution centre in Somerton Melbourne, you'll work with motors, sensors, variable speed drives, safety circuits and PLC-controlled equipment supporting conveyors, lifts, shuttles and sortation systems.
Some shifts will focus on planned maintenance and equipment reliability. Others will involve responding to breakdowns, finding electrical and controls faults under pressure and working with mechanical, controls and engineering specialists to find the solution.
You don't need to know our equipment before you join us. If you're a licensed electrician with strong industrial maintenance and fault-finding experience, we will help you build your knowledge of our automation systems and technology.
Candidates must be available to work rotating day and night shifts over 7 days.
What You'll Be DoingDiagnose electrical and control faults and return automated equipment to operation.
Complete planned maintenance, repairs and component replacements.
Work across motors, sensors, VSDs, safety circuits, control panels and PLC-controlled equipment.
Collaborate with mechanical, controls, engineering and international technical support teams on more complex issues.
Investigate recurring faults and contribute to practical reliability improvements.
Follow electrical isolation, lock-out/tag-out and permit-to-work requirements.
Proactively collaborate with the customer's operations team to maintain a safe, productive, and positive working environment.
Champion a culture of safety and complianceon site at all times.
An electrical trade qualification and current Victorian electrical licence.
Hands-on experience in electrical maintenance, fault-finding and repair.
Experience working with industrial equipment in manufacturing, processing, logistics or another operational environment.
The ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical information.
A logical, practical approach to diagnosing faults.
Post-trade certification in Pneumatics and Hydraulics(advantageous).
Solid communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a site-based team.
A strong commitment to safety and customer service.
Availability to work the full rotating roster.
Experience with automated equipment, conveyors, PLC-controlled systems, VSDs, sensors or computerised maintenance systems would be an advantage, but is not essential. What matters most is a strong electrical foundation, practical fault-finding ability and a willingness to learn.
Current First Aid and CPR, Working at Heights or Rescue from Heights qualifications would also be well regarded.
