Job Overview We are seeking a hands‑on Electrical Engineer to support the installation, testing, and maintenance of telecoms and electrical systems across rail infrastructure.
This role focuses on WiFi and CCTV systems, structured cabling (including CAT7 termination), and broader electrical engineering activities such as cable harnessing and power cable installation. The successful candidate will work on‑site within live rail environments, ensuring systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in line with industry standards. Key Responsibilities Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems, including CAT6/CAT7 data cabling.
Carry out installation and commissioning of WiFi and CCTV systems across rail environments (stations, depots, and trackside). Perform cable routing, containment, and termination for both telecoms and power systems. Undertake cable harness assembly and installation work to required specifications.
Install and maintain low‑voltage power cables and associated equipment. Conduct testing, fault finding, and troubleshooting of installed systems. Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and installation plans.
Ensure all work complies with rail industry standards, health & safety regulations, and site requirements. Work collaboratively with project engineers, supervisors, and other trades on‑site. Complete installation records, test documentation, and reports accurately.
Support commissioning activities and handover processes. Requirements Experience in electrical installation within rail, infrastructure, or similar environments. Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems, including CAT6/CAT7 termination.
Experience installing WiFi and CCTV systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical and telecoms drawings. Knowledge of cable containment systems (tray, trunking, conduit).
Understanding of low‑voltage power systems. Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work safely in a live rail environment.
Desirable Skills Experience working within rail infrastructure (e.g., Network Rail projects). Knowledge of rail standards and safe systems of work. Experience with fibre optic installation and testing.
