Position Summary We are looking for a leader for our nursing program who has a relentless commitment to distinctive excellence in nursing education on behalf of distinctive excellence in patient care. This leader must have an unwavering commitment to not only meeting but exceeding the approval standards of the Maryland Board of Nursing, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Maryland Higher Education Commission, Middle States Accreditation Commission, and Adventist Accreditation Association. The director must demonstrate positive Christocentric values which affirm program growth and advance the institution’s mission and vision.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Ensures the development and implementation of curriculum which aligns with the NCLEX-RN blueprint as essential for first-time student licensing success. Identifies, evaluates and supports faculty development. Arranges schedules of classes and assigns teaching staff to conduct classes.
Assumes responsibility for fiscal program management as defined by the institution’s business plan. Serves as liaison with the Maryland Board of Nursing, accrediting bodies and other external entities to maintain relationships and ensure programs are in compliance with regulations and requirements. Supports and promotes the University’s mission, vision and values.
Supports a spirit of excellence in service. Attends and contributes to assigned committee duties. Attends convocations and other Department of Nursing and WAU required and extra-curricular events.
Promotes and nurtures spirituality in students, coworkers, and the University at large through the integration of faith and learning. Works collaboratively with enrollment on behalf of program growth. Assumes responsibilities for all areas of program delivery including departmental meetings; clinical agency requirements and grant procurement.
Qualifications Doctorate in nursing or related field is required Current unencumbered registered nurse license from MD Board of Nursing required 2-5 years of progressive experience in nursing academic education leadership required Experience teaching in the Baccalaureate and Master’s level of nursing education preferred Experience mentoring faculty preferred Experience with higher education accreditation (state and regional), nursing accreditation and state board of nursing processes required Extensive experience in curriculum development, revision and evaluation required Experience in student learning outcome assessments required Exceptional written and oral communication skills Exceptional analytical abilities Demonstrated initiative and energy Legal and Compliance Notices Washington Adventist University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, marital status, veteran status, genetic information, or disability in employment or in the provision of services.
