Description

The Director has 24-hour/7 day per week responsibility for all patient care activities in their department and for reviewing performance in relation to recognized standards. He/she functions as a primary public relations representative for the department and staff in dealing with medical staff, patients, and families under his/her care or supervision. Has quality and fiscal responsibility for their department.

Possesses a broad knowledge of legal aspects of nursing and regulatory requirements. Has full access to patient health information.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• BSN required (current incumbents as of 1/1/2010 are excluded from this requirement).
• Management experience preferred.
• Related clinical experience is required for area of responsibility.
• Problem solving and leadership abilities. Good interpersonal skills.
• Must possess full range of body motion to pass a basic FIT test to include bending, stooping, standing and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
