Director, Construction Management

We are seeking an experienced Director to lead construction management activities, ensuring the set‑up of estimates, budgets and project timetables, and overseeing the entire project lifecycle through a cross‑functional Capital Team.

Responsibilities

The Director, Construction Management is accountable to the Vice President, Asset Management to ensure the set‑up of estimates, budgets, and project timetables are completed for the clients. Develop and manage a Capital team of Project Managers, Facilities Manager, Analyst, and Capital Administrator throughout project lifecycles.

  • Capital Project Strategy – develop, communicate and oversee implementation of strategies, maintain structures, facilities and system projects for efficiency.
  • Project Planning – analyze tenants’ needs, translate requirements into full‑scale project plans including scope, quality, budget, milestones, risk assessment and obtain necessary permits.
  • Budgets – prepare and submit budget estimates, progress and cost tracking reports, evaluate construction methods for cost‑effectiveness.
  • Capital Project Sourcing – prepare contracts, negotiate revisions with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors, and interpret plans to staff.
  • Project Leadership – guide the project team from planning through completion to meet scope, schedule and budget, manage change, approvals, inspections, warranties and commissioning.
  • Capital Project Reporting & Evaluation – deliver progress reports, proposals, documentation and proactively address challenges aligned with organizational goals.
  • Building Codes & Health, Safety & Security – enforce compliance with codes, conduct inspections, investigate incidents, maintain quality control programs.
  • Management & Development of Staff – hire, train, coach project teams, maximize performance and knowledge sharing.
  • Other duties – any other responsibilities and/or projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Architecture, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
