Details for the role and Catalyst are below: Development Associate Location: Edmonton Region / Hybrid Firm: Catalyst Development Advisory Limited Reporting to: Principal/Director About Catalyst Catalyst Development Advisory Limited provides independent development advisory and Owner’s Project Management services for complex capital projects across Alberta. Catalyst works alongside organizations to plan, structure, and deliver projects that strengthen communities — including continuing care, community housing, and mission-driven developments.
Catalyst’s role spans the full project lifecycle, including: Development strategy and feasibility analysis Oversight and coordination of financial modeling and capital planning Consultant & contractor procurement and management Budget and schedule oversight Construction monitoring and reporting Strategic advisory to executive leadership and Boards Catalyst acts as the independent representative of the Owner, ensuring projects are financially sound, strategically aligned, and successfully delivered. Position Overview Catalyst is seeking a Development Associate to support the planning and delivery of complex development projects. This role combines elements of: Project coordination Development advisory Financial analysis The Associate will work directly with the Principal/Director to support feasibility analysis, financial analysis, project coordination, and reporting across multiple active projects.
The position offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the full lifecycle of real estate and institutional development, from early-stage feasibility through construction and completion. Key Responsibilities Development Advisory Support Assist in the preparation of development feasibility analysis Support project financial and project pro-forma analysis Contribute to capital planning and funding strategy evaluations & research Assist in preparation of project business cases and funding submissions Project Coordination & Delivery Maintain project schedules and milestone tracking Track project budgets and cost updates Monitor consultant deliverables and submission timelines Coordinate information flow between consultants, owners, and project stakeholders Maintain project documentation and decision logs Financial Analysis Review project financial models Support analysis for project feasibility Assist in capital stack structuring and funding scenario analysis Support grant funding applications and financial reporting requirements Reporting & Governance Prepare monthly project reporting dashboards Compile Board and executive reporting packages Track project risks and mitigation strategies Support project governance and stage-gate decision processes Internal Systems & Tools Maintain Catalyst’s project reporting templates and dashboards Assist in development of standardized financial models Support internal knowledge management and documentation Industry Engagement & Business Development As Catalyst continues to expand its advisory practice, the Associate will play a supporting role in industry engagement and business development initiatives. This includes contributing to the firm’s visibility within its current and future market sectors.
Responsibilities may include: Supporting preparation of materials for client meetings, presentations, and proposals Assisting with research related to potential development opportunities and sector trends Monitoring relevant industry announcements, funding programs, and development activity Supporting preparation of thought leadership materials, case studies, and insights for Catalyst’s website or industry events Assisting in preparation for conferences, panel discussions, and professional networking events Contributing to proposal development and response to requests for advisory services Through this work, the Associate will gain exposure to the broader development ecosystem and the strategic considerations that shape major capital projects. Qualifications Catalyst is seeking candidates with a strong analytical mindset and an interest in complex development projects. Preferred background includes: Degree or Diploma in Business, Finance, Real Estate, Engineering, or Planning 2–5 years of experience in one or more of: Development consulting Real estate development financial analysis project management construction advisory Advanced proficiency in Excel Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent written communication and report preparation ability Experience with capital projects, infrastructure development, or institutional projects is considered an asset.
