SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

We are seeking a talented developer to commence work within 4-6 weeks to contribute to systems that ingest, validate, transform and distribute high-volume real-time data to both internal and external consumers. This system provides accurate data for online and offline systems. The role encompasses all related aspects of these systems including validation, security, logging, monitoring, analysis, archiving and visualisation of data.

WORK HOURS & LOCATION:

This is a full-time position total hours are 38 per week Monday to Friday and core work hours are 10am to 4pm. Work from home and / or our Southbank office your choice. During probation period of 3 months, work from our office with the team leader and other team members will be required.

Out of hours support including evenings, weekends and public holidays, on a roster basis, is required 1 week every 4 / 5 weeks. Employees receive an on-call allowance. Time in lieu for hours worked whilst on out of hours on call-support, can be taken as agreed with the team leader.

SKILLS / ABILITIES NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Experience with distributed messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Pulsar or similar is desirable.
  • Understanding of asynchronous programming, distributed messaging and event-driven architectures.
  • Intermediate to high level ability in Python programming.
  • Experience in at least one general purpose programming language, other than Python is an advantage.
  • Experience using ANSI SQL at an intermediate level.
  • Experience in Oracle's SQL and PL/SQL or the willingness to obtain this knowledge, is advantageous.
  • Experience of any or all of MongoDB, Redis and ClickHouse is advantageous.
  • Experience in the use of container technology for software delivery e.g. Docker.
  • Experience in the use of version control for software and configuration management e.g. Git, Subversion as well as tools for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo.
  • Sound mathematical ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to peers and colleagues and the ability to explain complex ideas simply.
  • Ability to work in a team or in a team and work independently, exercise discretion and judgement and be self-motivated.
  • Attention to detail and motivation to find errors and explain their implications including correcting them where necessary and possible.
