Job Description

Education:

Degree in Design, Arts, or Engineering


Experience:

Previous teaching experience in Design within the IB Diploma Programme or familiarity with IB curriculum and standards

Experience teaching in an international or multicultural school environment


Languages:

Fluent English (C1 level or above)


Specific Technical Knowledge:

Proficiency in design tools and technologies, including CAD, 3D printing, and digital design software

Knowledge of sustainable design practices and trends in design technology


Desirable Knowledge:

IB Design and TOK Category 1 or 2 training

Proficiency in relevant design tools and technologies, including CAD, 3D printing, and digital design software

Experience teaching in an international or multicultural school environment

Understanding of sustainable design practices and trends in design technology

You will be responsible for class teaching, content preparation and student management in school environments following RED HOUSE s pedagogical plan:

Teach Design and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) classes, focusing on the design process, problem-solving, and practical application.

Guide students through all stages of the design cycle: investigation, planning, development, and evaluation.

Foster creativity and innovation by encouraging idea generation and testing, prototyping, and developing solutions for real-world challenges.

Provide hands-on instruction using relevant tools and technologies, including digital design software.

Plan, develop, and implement lessons aligned with the IB Design curriculum and the Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) principles.

Promote interdisciplinary learning opportunities by connecting design with other areas such as science, technology, and the arts.

Assess design projects and provide constructive feedback to support improvement of processes and outcomes.

Prepare students for internal and external IB assessments, including documentation and project presentations.

Ensure compliance with IB assessment criteria, standards, and rubrics.

Engage continuously in IB training and conferences, staying current with pedagogical and technological advancements.

Share innovative practices and contribute to the schools professional learning community.

Create a collaborative classroom environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork.

Supervise individual student projects, assisting in idea refinement and the development of problem-solving skills.

Collaborate with the IBDP Coordinator and other faculty members to ensure interdisciplinary connections and curricular alignment.

Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding progress, projects, and learning opportunities.

Participate in extracurricular design-related activities, such as clubs, competitions, and exhibitions.
