Job Description

The employee is part of the Design Engineering Team and shall serve as a stress analysis and mechanical design resource for higher level Design Engineers and Project Engineers. Our client's product line is primarily high pressure, high temperature pneumatic and fluid lines for aerospace applications. Markets served include domestic and foreign commercial, military, and space.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: There are two primary job functions - Detailed component design and FEA based stress analysis. -Component design consists of conceptual sketches (physical or CAD) which are fed to the drafting team. Significant application of concepts such as design to specification, design for manufacturing, design for inspection, and design for cost. -Stress analysis has a heavy emphasis on structural dynamics, fatigue, and nonlinear solutions. FEA tasks range from simple geometry creation and meshing all the way to final analysis report. • Works with a diverse cross-functional team of engineers designing and analyzing metallic parts that are produced using a variety of manufacturing methods. • All work goes through review process to higher levels; 50% work unsupervised • This role will be delivering final designs and results • Common methods: forming and welding of sheet metal, machining, additive manufacturing, and casting. • Internal flow calculations and external insulation calculations are common using in-house tools. • Travel required is REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Education and/or Experience: • BS Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Astronautical or similar Engineering field. (MS Degree preferred). • 2.5-5+ years of experience in an engineering design environment. • 2.5-3 years with final thermal analysis/stress analysis • 2+ years of experience with finite element analysis stress software (HyperWorks, Femap/NASTRAN, or ANSYS Mechanical). • Demonstrated expertise in data analysis and reduction. • Experience Types: o Experience with linear and/or nonlinear static FEA solutions is required. o Experience or exposure with modal, harmonic response, and random response is required. o Experience with contact analysis is preferred.

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE o Experience with simulation of metal forming methods is preferred. oExperience designing for metallic additive manufacturing is preferred. o Experience with SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar drafting software is preferred. o Experience with Stainless Steel, Titanium, Inconel, and other superalloys is preferred
