DeltaV Automation Engineer

Job Title: DeltaV Automation Engineer Location: All Ascendion Locations Industry: Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Life Sciences Manufacturing Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on DeltaV Automation Engineer with experience designing, implementing, and supporting Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control Systems (DCS) within GMP-regulated manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in batch process automation, control system configuration, troubleshooting, and validation, with the ability to support projects throughout the full system lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, and maintain Emerson DeltaV DCS and Batch automation systems.

Develop and modify control modules, equipment modules, phase logic, batch recipes, and HMI graphics. Design and implement ISA-88 compliant batch automation solutions. Support automation projects through requirements gathering, design, configuration, testing, commissioning, and startup.

Perform troubleshooting and optimization of manufacturing process control systems. Develop and maintain automation documentation including URS, FS, DS, IQ, OQ, FAT, and SAT protocols. Support system integrations with PLCs, MES, historians, and third-party manufacturing systems.

Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Validation, Quality, and IT teams to ensure reliable and compliant operations. Participate in DeltaV migrations, upgrades, remediation efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with cGMP, GAMP 5, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. 5+ years of hands-on Emerson DeltaV experience. Strong experience with DeltaV DCS configuration, programming, and troubleshooting. Experience implementing ISA-88 batch automation concepts, including phases, recipes, equipment modules, and control modules.

Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environments. Understanding of control system validation and software development lifecycle documentation. Experience supporting commissioning, qualification, and startup activities.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Emerson DeltaV Batch certification or formal DeltaV training. Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, SCADA/HMI systems, OPC communications, and industrial networking.

Experience integrating DeltaV with MES, OSI PI Historian, or enterprise systems. Knowledge of process instrumentation, P&IDs, and manufacturing process control. Experience supporting large-scale automation upgrades and modernization projects.
