Data Modeller

On behalf of UKRI we are looking for a Data Modeller (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. Hybrid working with visits to Swindon 1-2 days per month.

The Data Modeller will play a critical role in designing and implementing UKRI's enterprise analytical data models, supporting the strategic objective of "Data for All" and enabling trusted, governed, and scalable analytics across grants, finance, organisational, people, studentship and research-related data domains.

The successful candidate must possess strong hands-on experience designing and implementing Kimball dimensional data warehouse solutions and be capable of translating complex business processes into scalable analytical data models that support enterprise reporting, self-service analytics, AI, automation and strategic decision making.

The role will work closely with Data Architects, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Data Governance specialists and business stakeholders across UKRI's councils and corporate functions

As a Data Modeller your main responsibilities will be to:

. Design and maintain enterprise-scale dimensional data models using the Kimball methodology . Define enterprise data standards for analytical modelling. . Produce conceptual, logical and physical data models. . Work with architects and engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable warehouse structures. . Ensure consistency across data domains through conformed dimensions and enterprise data definitions. . Support the development of a single source of truth for UKRI analytical reporting. . Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards and Subject Matter Experts to develop trusted datasets. . Contribute to data governance and data quality initiatives. . Work with data scientists to ensure analytical datasets are optimised for AI consumption.

Essential:

. Experience with Kimball data modelling methodologies and star schema design. . Ability to integrate source data into existing enterprise data warehouse models. . Good understanding of enterprise data warehousing principles. . Strong SQL and data management capabilities. . Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
