Data Engineering Manager

Overview This is an exciting opportunity for you to join Mastercard on the DAAI team. Come join us! We are seeking a Technical Manager with a strong development background to lead multiple Scrum teams in designing, building, and delivering high-quality software solutions.

This role combines leadership with hands-on technical expertise to drive innovation and ensure timely delivery of scalable products. Key Responsibilities Development Leadership Lead and mentor engineering teams to design, develop, and build solutions for internal and market-facing products. Collaborate with Product and Architecture teams to ensure features and stories are ready for development.

Drive technical design discussions and implement best-fit solutions within agreed timelines. Perform code reviews, promote continuous refactoring, and enforce coding standards. Hands-On Technical Contribution Contribute to development in Java/ Python, Hadoop, Impala, and Databricks for scalable product design.

Debug and troubleshoot complex issues (core, heap, thread dumps) and resolve coding errors. Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, AWS/Azure pipelines. Implement automation for code quality and security scanning (Sonar, Checkmarx).

Must have knowledge in public cloud AWS /Azure Process & Delivery Excellence Define and implement development processes, branching strategies, and test-driven development practices. Ensure timely delivery of features with accurate task estimates and complexity assessments. Conduct performance and load testing to validate application limits and scalability.

Team & Talent Management Recruit and hire top engineering talent with strong development skills. Conduct regular 1:1s, provide coaching, and manage career development for team members. Drive continuous improvement in team productivity and technical capability.

Strategic & Operational Plan for platform and infrastructure capacity (database, compute, network, storage). Manage budgets, forecasting, and cost allocation while meeting business objectives. Promote reuse of patterns, libraries, and best practices across teams.

All About You: • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience, with a proven track-record of successfully delivering on complex technical assignments. • A solid foundation in Computer Science fundamentals, web applications and microservices-based software architecture. Full-stack development experience, including .NET Framework/.NET Core, .NET MVC, SSIS, React, Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Python, Impala, etc,. Experience with PCF/AWS/Azure is desirable but not mandatory. • Excellent SQL skills, with experience working with large and complex data sources and capability of comprehending and writing complex queries. • Experience working in Agile teams and conversant with Agile/SAFe tenets and ceremonies.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with quick adaptation to new technologies, methodologies, and systems. • Excellent English communication skills (both written and verbal) to effectively interact with multiple technical teams and other stakeholders. • High-energy, detail-oriented and proactive, with ability to function under pressure in an independent environment along with a high degree of initiative and self-motivation to drive results.
