Role Description
The Customer Field Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC, responsible for providing field-based technical support and service to ENGO’s customers. Day-to-day activities include installing, maintaining, and repairing UPS systems, battery systems, and associated power protection equipment at customer sites. The technician conducts diagnostics and troubleshooting of electrical and power quality issues, performs routine inspections, testing, and tagging, and ensures work is completed safely and in line with company standards.
The role involves direct customer interaction, explaining findings, recommending solutions, and providing basic training on system use and maintenance. The technician also documents service activities, prepares reports, and coordinates with the engineering and administration teams to support efficient, quality service delivery.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in electricity and power systems, including experience working with UPS equipment and battery systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and fault diagnosis for electrical, electronic, and power quality issues.
- Customer service and communication skills to interact professionally with clients, explain technical information clearly, and manage expectations.
- Experience providing technical support and on-site assistance, including documenting work performed and reporting issues.
- Ability to deliver basic training and guidance to customers on safe operation and routine maintenance of equipment.
- Relevant trade qualification or certification in electrical or electronics, and eligibility to work in Australia; electrical license or equivalent is highly regarded.
- Understanding of safety standards and compliance requirements related to electrical testing, RCD testing, and test & tagging.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to customer sites within Melbourne and surrounding areas.
- Good time management, problem-solving abilities, and capacity to work independently and within a team.
