Custodian - Substitute Position

Position Type: Maintenance/Custodial/Custodian Date Posted: 12/5/2025 Location: District-Wide Date Available: until filled Job Opening Title: Custodial Substitutes Description: The Orange Board of Education is looking to add substitutes to its custodial substitute pool. Candidates will provide general cleaning and floor care services using a variety of specialized "green" labeled products and equipment. Candidates will perform custodial duties required for maintaining assigned rooms, equipment, buildings, and adjacent areas in a clean, orderly, and secure manner, as well as removing snow and dispensing ice-melt as needed.

Must be able to lift/move up to 100 pounds. Must exhibit the ability to complete assignments on a regular basis and in a timely manner. Must be able to work with minimum supervision.

The hours are flexible. The day shift would report from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, and the night shift would report from 1:00 PM - 9:00 PM. There are times when subs are needed only for a four (4) hour shift.

The rate of pay is currently $18.00 per hour. This is a non-union position and does not have any fringe benefits. 2-3 years' experience in a school environment is preferred.
